Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

After hour or two car will miss, almost felt like a fuel/air issue. Then acts like transmissions gone. As I accelerate it revs and shifts. (transmission guy said its a newer tranny, not the problem).

The rpms rev up, when going slow it drives with no gas pedal needed. If its on cruise it accelerates on its own. Once I park it for a few hours, I'll restart and it revs up. Then I have to shut it off, and it'll restart just fine.. had throttle position sensor replaced..what other sensor could it be?2003 grand prix

There is a few cars that will rev like this that is the auto choke to some engines coming into play (mostly noted on a dodge 1500 v6 mag year model 2000) this is sometimes normal as the auto choke will rev the motor for a while or so before letting the motor calm down per-say as the motor is warming up

Testimonial: "yea this is not normal. very random. usually if on road over an hour. car drives by itself, its idled so high. then starts to shift like bad transmission, like i said feels like air or fuel problem. step on gas and shifts hard thru gears and sometimes step on gas and it misses like needs fuel ugh, people keep telling me prob a sensor."

hmm well at least you gave me more details it seems the throttle for idling is set too high for its own good on the throttle housing there should be a way to turn down the throttle if there's like an electrical cable going to the throttle then its controlled by a computer...in which the part going to the throttle body needs replacement as for the bad shifting feeling you may want to have the trans looked at or given the right level of trans oil (has happened before with my mother's dodge pickup where even sometimes it would shift oddly like a diesel lol)

Toyota corolla problems

After checking the easy stuff first like low oil level, if it is high RPM(revs) & shifts hard(lurch when it does shift) then I am thinking the transmission filter & oil need to be changed. The transmission filter acts as a suction screen on an automatic transmission & as it collects contaminants to protect the inner workings of the transmission, it becomes plugged which greatly affects the ability to shift especially the high gears at faster acceleration.
