SOURCE: 2001 Montero Sport does not have power when climbing mountain pas

Considering what has been done, the problem sounds like a fuel issue. Do a fuel pressure test, it should be 47-50 psi with vacuum line pulled off fuel pressure regulator. If low replace filter and try again. If still low replace pump. Please make sure to rate me when done. Thanks

SOURCE: cabin filter location mercury mountaineer

There is one for the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. If you are smellign a "vinegar" odor, mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water and pour it down the grid at the base of the windshield. It will take care of the smell.

SOURCE: Heat does not work, makes loud clicking noise when

I have a 2003 Mountaineer that had the same symptoms. After doing some research, me and Google decided it was the Blend Door Actuator. It is a fairly difficult job due to having to take pretty much the whole dash off, but I did it myself with minimal experience. I included a few links. (This is the guide I used.)

Good luck!

I have a 2006 mountaineer with power running boards, after I changed the battery neither one of the boards work now. the interior lights and the door ajar lights work. thanks

If you have a information menu in the dash, besides all of the gas mileage and trip functions- there is another menu.
On this menu you are able to set the horn to chirp when setting the alarm, park assist for the mirrors and so forth. One of the functions should be the on/off for the running boards. We had a Lincoln Aviator without running boards, but I believe I read about it in the owners manual. The setting was probably lost when you changed the battery.

Engine light comes on, computer resets but comes

drop in to autozone they will scan the code and let you know what it is. i highly doubt the clicking noise is related to light. if you have kids they may have dropped something into the vents... or something has fallen in.
