Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I just recently bought a 2007 kymco MXU 300. Under acceleration the whole bike jerks, any ideas why? Also when I start the engine and put it in gear it stalls, once again any ideas?

Its primarily under heavy acceleration when it jerks, it is getting worse and more frequent. It's also not every time I start the engine, put it into gear and it stalls. Obviously when it's cold but also when it has been used and is warm.

SOURCE: will not start when engine warm

Sounds more like your ignition module is getting hot and not working. I'd go there first before replacing the ECM. You can remove the ignition module and most NAPA stores have the ability to test them for you. Make sure they test it at least 5 times. This way it'll simulate starting and stopping.

SOURCE: stalls and wont idle when cold

Re the trooper. You have a couple of possibles. The most likely is the glowplugs or glowplug relay. Don't be fooled into thinking glow plugs only heat to start - the also do whats called postheat. That is to raise the cylinder temp until the block is warm. IF they are not functioning (clip a light onto one whilst switching the glowplug on to test the relay) this is common.
Most likely is a stuck EGR valve - stuck open so running a very lean mix when cold. Its two bolts on the inlet manifold, pulls out and looks covered in soot - it should push in and spring out. Can be cleaned in petrol or alcohol or with compressed air.
More remote is possible you have a faulty injector...only really testable by an engine centre...

SOURCE: 1994 LT1 Engine "balks" under acceleration intermittently

Your fuel pump or your catalytic is plugged. have it tested with a infrared gun it will tell you if the cat is bad and if it is replace it test the fuel pump for fuel rail pressure it should read 50 psi then hold to 20 psi for 1 minute.. Also check to see if the intake plate is dirty and if it is do a top engine clean, buy GM's top engine cleaner and run it threw the engine, if you have carbon buildup the compression and cause the car to run bad and the knock sensor will not be able to adjust time. I know this sounds silly but these three things will cause your problem and so will a bad fuel filter.

Could be almost anything. Start by making sure the air cleaner IS the right size (poor fit can cause rough acceleration), and isn't loaded up with crud which tends to "choke out" the engine when under heavy load..

ENGINE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION
LOSS OF ACCELERATION

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.
There are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault lies: -------

Sounds to me like the timing is off! it COULD be bad gas though! run that tank through, and refill, then see how it feels!
