2009 manual gear change Mitsubishi Triton making transmission noises.Noise ceases with a slight clunk when vehicle halts and 4WD lights on dashboard dash continuall

Hi Alan,

I have a couple or so questions to pose.
First, the sound You hear. How would you describe it? Squealy, squeaky or grinding, perhaps a howl or thumping?
Second, does the sound appear to emanate from the front and if so does it manifest on the right or left, in the middle?
Third, you mention the 4wd lights are always on, so do you have to get out and manually lock your hubs or is there a button on or near the dash that's pushed to engage/disengage the hubs?
If it is the latter then I'd start by checking the the unit that engages the hubs. I t is probably located near the center of the front axle and is a motor with end of travel switches to show what state the hubs are in. It will usually either jam or the motor will fail leaving the hubs in one perpetual state or the other. The wiring may have corrosion at the connectors also, so you might want to check that.
One of me mates 4wd pickups had that problem, only the 4wd light would not come on. The motor had failed and left the hubs partially engaged. Fortunately it did almost no damaged (being figured out quickly) and replacing the hub control unit did the trick.
It could also be a failure in the switch up in the cab that turns on/off the 4wd so keep that in mind if you test the motor in the unit and find it works
Hope this helps shed light on your problem and that it's no worse than this.

HEAD BOLT TORQUE SPECS FOR MITSUBISHI TRITON 3.2 DIESEL 4M41U ENGINE - THANK YOU

there's no one torque setting. there's multiple stages and a sequence you have to do it in. usually finger tight, then tighten to a torque setting spiraling out. then torque it further so many degrees.
check the pajero 4m44 forum for exact specs. got manual at hm. have look later.

How do i remove front hub

hello anon.
2wd or 4wd car?, this Counts big time? i toss coin; land 4wd.
The USA car can be Vitara or Grand Vitara. and cut in dates vary for that too.
the 2002 has no end locking hubs.
so you must mean front wheel bearing hubs.
ok its easy with tools.

GOT TOOLS?
http://www.fixkick.com/hubs/FW_BEARINGS.html#newer

to be accurate i need full spec on car
country
engine sizes. and if 2wd or 4wd.

my guess is your car has the unified hubs. (bearings can not be removed)
you unbolt it.
you put the new hub on
you torque it to 123-180 Ft/lbs, this is the running torque not a preload)
if not, it will fail fast.

that page even has the FSM chapter page there. to see.
from a real Suzuki, 2004.
can be seen tool, at alldata.com
or at suzuki pit stop , dot com (google it) its there.
