Question about 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

1 Answer

I am replacing the stock dual mass flywheel with an F1 prolite racing stage 2 clutch and flywheel kit. The mechanic is telling me that the clutch pedal is going all the way to the floor before the cluth engages, and sometimes it won't shift. The website I got the parts from clearly state to use the stamped steel plate from the stock flywheel. The mechanic is telling me that there isn't anything there to take off. I am in Iraq and my wife is trying to handle this. I can say I will not get work done there anymore, because I have been getting the run around. Can someone please help me with this situation?

Sounds like your mechanic does not want to do the job over again.Have him show you the old flywheel.Or send you a picture of the old one

You cannot adjust it, if it's slipping while driving either there is oil on the clutch disc, the pressure plate isn't strong enough to overcome engine torque or something is incorrect in your clutch system

2003 Tiburon 6 spd clutch replacement now tranny won't respond

Possibility, you may have intalled the clutch disk backwards.... if so, the disk hub is torqued against the crankshaft hub preventing engagement of the clutch. 2003 TIBUORN DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION: The 2003 MY 2.7L Tiburon vehicle equipped with the 6-speed manual transaxle employs a dual mass flywheel system. The 2003 Tiburon Shop Manual does not show the clutch disc assembly with the dual mass flywheel. This bulletin provides information about how to assemble these components. NOTE Although it is possible to assemble the clutch disc with either side facing the flywheel surface, only the assembly of these two parts shown in this bulletin is correct.
  1. Attach the dual mass flywheel to the engine crankshaft assembly.
  2. Identify the clutch disc flange side and the collar side as shown. 0240025a.gif
  3. Install the collar side of the clutch disc on the dual mass flywheel surface so that the flange side is facing the pressure plate side as shown. 0240025b.gif
  4. Attach the pressure plate to the dual mass flywheel and complete assembly of the remaining components per the Shop Manual procedures. 0240025c.gif

I have very little resistance on my clutch, I added fluid to the reservoir and it didn't seem to help. Is the clutch shot?

I do not know the exact parameters of which you mean little to no resistance, but if your reference is of the clutch-pedal feel, then your pressure "diaphram" is weak, which will also be a sure tell sign of clutch grip plate slipping and a very foul smell. solution? take to dealer and replace with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or replace with an ACT (Advanced Clutch Techology), Clutchmasters, or any number of manufacturers that create eclipse clutches. If it is an automatic, then you are looking at a shot torque converter.
Hope this helps.
Had similar issue, self solved, replaced withs Clutchmaster's Stage 3 Pressure plate, Grip Plate and Flywheel.
But I race....
but make sure you find street level, Im pretty sure you dont race
