To find short, first decide what on fuse 17 by checking what does not work. Then follow wires as much as possible. Disconnect from device to see if that stops short. If not, look for wire rubbed through or pinched. If desperate, replace fuse with flashing light, and trace wire with pin and test light or inductive probe, looking for flasher pulsh. After short, there will no longer be pulse on wire.

How do you replace a master fuse in 2001 Nissan Maxima?

Remove the blown fuse and re-install with the proper amperage fuse specified by the owners manual. If it blows, short to ground somewhere in the wiring harness, trace and find short, repair as necessary, test with new fuse.

Problems with 92 nissan maxima backup light burns out meter fuse

Remove the backup bulbs and check again. If the fuse still blows, find the backup switch and see if it has failed and shorts when activated. You may need a Chilton book to locate the switch, it may be on the transmission, or on the gear selector linkage.
