follow the top radiator hose to the engine...it's inside that assembly.
Refill and bleed the air out of the system when you replace the coolant.

i just had to replace mine. you have to take jack the car up. take the tire off. remove all clips and remove the rubber guards (whatever they are called). you then have to remove some star shaped screws behind the light. you just keep taking stuff off until you see the light!! i took it to the dealer at first but they were going to charge me $180 to change a $5 bulb. absolutely ridiculous. They gave me a print off with step bu step instructions but i lost it. I hope this helps.

go to local auto parts store and get the repair manual for your and make of volkswagen... For what you are doing it is a must have... It will save you a lot of headaches.
