1993 toyota pick up temperature gauge problem

Or the thermostat might be faulty which raises the temprature at which the thermostat starts to open. Giving a high reading on the gauge. if it gets too hot you might be at risk of blowing a pype or head gasket. If so replace thermostat. Check for a loose wire to the temp sensor as well. See if the radiator fan turns on when temp rises. If not check a fuse or the radiator fan temprature switch might be faulty.

My 01 Pontiac Montana is trying to overheat at high power

If your vehicle doesn't actually overheat, just getting hot, I think that's the normal behaviour for these cars. My 03 AWD behaves the same way. When driving uphill, especialy when towing, the temperature rises close to the red marking, but I have never experienced it overheating. I think that the temperature has to rise much over the normal driving temperature to activate the two electric fans.

This is normal. The ECM monitors engine temperature and increases idle when it sees the engine is cold. The ECM sets the idle back to normal when engine temperature rises.

The cause of the fault of cooling system are: seriousWater Leakage; cylinder pad insulation jacket and cylinder impact; the thermostat main valve off; fan belt loosening or fracture; pump shaft and impeller loose; fan clutch side. Either coolant temperature sensor isn't keeping the fan on long enough ( has a resistance problem) relay is opening the circuit too soon because its worn, water pump is defective( remove it belt and check for looseness at the pulley),coolant and thermostat need replacement.

Could be a bad sensor. I've seen this caused by a loose connection and may not be overheating in fact. Certainly should be checked out.
