Question about 1997 Hyundai Accent

1997 Hyundai Accent GL ''Chokes'' and dies

The flex pipe of my exhaust has a hole in it, so exhaust goes straight up into my engine cavity, and comes through my A/C vents. The car has problems getting up to speed, it struggles, and it will start to choke and then die, while at a stop light or intersection. I've replaced the fuel filter, and sparks and plugs, and it still hasn't fixed it. Please someone help!

**I was wondering if that would be it, but the dealership kept saying it was other stuff.. so I wasn't sure, but in the back of my head, I wanted to go with that, gut instinct kind of thing. Well thanks! I will post back when I've got the part installed!

You have to change the flexy pipe. The lambda sensor is behind that. And its the sensor that is giving you the problems by not getting the correct readings from the exhaust gasses.

That sounds like normal pricing for both. Not sure that You need a flex pipe unless it is rusted out and leaking.

I just fixed my flex pip on my hyundai accent now I have a loud exhaust noise my check engine light is on saying I have an oxygen leak but took it to a mechanic in they told me that I don't have a exhaust...

Take it to a muffler shop-that mechanic must have a tin ear. I thought my Sentra had a small exhaust leak (slightly loud exhaust noise) from a previously fixed exhaust connection. But a muffler shop guy showed me I had a rusted out catalytic converter. I would suspect your flex pipe may still be leaking.

1999 hyundai accent gl bogs down when i put in gear just replaced coil pack sparkplugs and wires any ideas

Without actually looking at the vehicle, it's difficult to say. The 1999 accent was equipped with an idle speed conrol actuator (common issue) or there may be a vacuum leak at the surge tank or the problem may be something electrical. Without a proper inspection/diagnosis of engine management components, it could be anyone's guess. Valve timing could be 'out', poor cylinder compression, restricted intake air flow, poor quality fuel/gasoline, restriction in the exhaust system, low fuel pressure, and the list goes on and on.

Best advice. Have a qualified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose your vehicle.

Broken flex joint on exhaust

it would be the front pipe you can buy new at about 200-300 hundred or go to auto parts and ask for a flex tube they have 3 or 4 different sizes from 1 and a half inch to 2 and three quarters of inch it should costs 40 to 60 dollars and if you can weld with a mig welder you cut the pipe as close to the flex or weld as possible then install the new part and weld it or if you cant weld and no money is loose buy muffler clamps and tighten them on the pipe new part or find one in scrap yard that is better if theres a problem ask me i have done many

No power. Runs better the less gas you give it. It is the wordt when the check engine light flashes

sounds like your car has gone in to limp mode you need to go to a garage and have a diagnostic test
