Possible causes: bad distributor, bad wires, bad plugs, bad coil or bad fuel. A pro is needed to diagnosis the problem. You can try using premium gas to see if it helps. Good luck!

Have had to troubleshoot similar issues - if there are no fault codes - don't rule out Tune up problems like missfiring spark plugs.
When the Transmission Torque Converter is engaged "Lock up" and in OverDrive - every missfire from the engine can be felt.
Let me know if this helps at all
Thank You

1998 chevy 1500 silverado 5.7 liter 2 wheel drive missfired, jerked and died it would not start.

The first thing you do is run an OBD2 engine control module fault code test, this engine is fully electronically controlled. You will need a code reader to do this test, rent one or borrow one from a local auto parts store like Autozone or O'reilly. The test connector under the dash in front of the driver. See picture below.

I have a 2000 silverado w/4.3l vortec engine. I took it to a mechanic cuz I was having difficulty pin pointing a good diagnosis my code reader gave me only a P0300 random missfire code. He looked at it...

Try changing the spark plug on that cylinder, and then the cap and rotor and wires if needed. It is most likely the problem. If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

02 Dakota sometimes missfires, most times runs great. Code reader shows "random missfires" Vehicle sits a lot; 21K miles on an 02. Changed idel air control sensor, throttle sensor and absolute pressure...

I would replace the spark plugs and more importantly the spark plug wires. It may be a bad plug wire with a break in it somewhere. It be so small that it only grounds the wire out when it gets warm due to expansion of the insulation around the wire.

CODES P0302 - P1000 - and P1313 any solutions?

Hi.....

The code P0302, Missfiring detacted at cylinder # 2.
The Code P1313, Catalystic Damaged Bank A , due to Missfiring.
The code P1000, Transsmission check Not completed. during test.

OK. The Important of this problem is, Check the Engine compression on the Cylinder 2.
If the compression is GOOD, Maybe you cen solve the problem Making a TUNE-UP.
But if the compression is LOW, You will need to spend Mony to REBUILT THE ENGINE or HEADS.

OK.. The catalystic come Damaged due to the Missfiring, And will need to replace.

The code P1000. You need a transmission compatible scanner to see if there a code on the Trans.

OK... I hope this help on your question

Thank you for use fixya.....
