SOURCE: replace antenna on 2003 mr2 spyder

my antenna just stopped working in my MR2 2003 Spider. The motor still runs but the antenna will not go up and down. It made a weird noise and I had to pull the top of the antenna up to stop the motor from sounding loud.

Should I replace this or can you disconnect it and push the antenna up and down?

Thanks

SOURCE: 2003 MR2 will not idle

I had the same problem. My check engine light was on. Took it to the dealer and they checked the code. It was the throttle control motor failure. The good news is I got the wiring wet and that seem to be the problem. They reset the check engine light and it runs fine now. Bad news is if I had to get the motor replaced they said it would be about $1300.00 I hope things work out for you.

SOURCE: 2003 toyota mr2 spyder 5 speed transmission grinding noise

Here is what is going on. When you push in the clutch pedal you remove the connection between the engine and the transmission. At this time all the parts in the transmission stop rotating.Since the only parts in the transmission that can rotate without moving the car are the input parts we can safely assume that the noise can only be from there. This can be a transmission input bearing. Worn Synchro mechanism (allows the transmission to shift without grinding the gears)Low fluid in the tranny. Or a bad clutch component. Top off or change the fluid. If it still makes the noise you need to take it to a tranny shop.

SOURCE: check engine light flash then steady

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. If the light is flashing there is a severe failure of the emission-control system that is causing the engine to misfire to the point that the catalytic converter is damaged each time the Check Engine Light flashes. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

SOURCE: MR2 after 2 mins of starting the smt light comes on.

it sounds like the clutch actuator is worn out.
The clutch actuator has 2 parts:
1. the clutch master cylinder
2. the clutch slave cylinder.

Try to replace the slave cylinder first, and if it is still not solving the problem, then try to replace the clutch master cylinder

Good Luck

If the clutch is correctly adjusted, it will start to engage when releasing the clutch pedal at 1 in. off of the floor. When in Heavy traffic shift trans to neutral while at a stop, take your foot off of the clutch pedal to avoid overheating the release bearing

Clutch on my 2000 tiburon wont engage or disengage

If the pedal is operating the clutch and its not a hydraulic problem then you do the mechanics trick of the trade ,warm up engine then turn it off ,now selsct first gear -handbrake off and start car in gear and drive with foot on clutch ,jerk the car a bit with the throttle and the clutch will release in the first hundred metres or so ,well they normally do anyway

If I can't change into gear do I need a new clutch

Not necessarily. You need to check on the hydraulics first then on the mechanical side.Is the level of fluid correct and are there no leaks or perform a stall test.Put vehicle in gear 5 then leave the pedal if the vehicle stalls then the clutch is ok. if vehicle does not stop then the clutch is worn.

1998 Honda accord manual transmission revs high, car barely accelerates. What would cause this problem? the clutch was replaced 2 years ago.

You know the clutch is slipping
& continue to drive & ruin that

Now you can do another clutch
service, while your finding the answer
to what your asking

Next car get an automatic & just change
the fluid every 3 years

Impala 2003 problems: I just bought it 3 days ago, it was sold to me "as-is", I did two test drives and it was fine and now, I have noticed the following issues that started appearing: 1. AC...

1:) You'll likely need a fan resistor. there will be several different kinds of resistor depending on what type of system you have in your vehicle. They can range sometimes from $60 to $90 depending on what it is you have.

2:) Probably a heat shield. Nothing to really worry about but you'll want to have a mechanic find out exactly what it is that's causing the noise.

3 and 4:) Likely your brakes. If you have little pad left then it's time to replace them and your mechanic. He should have seen it. If there is pad left then they're just a little squeeky and require some brake grease for the slides. That will allow them to move freely and far enough away from the rotor when not in use.

5:) Can be caused by a high idle. I would suggest replacing the air filter and cleaning the Mass Airflow sensor. Without knowing your engine configuration I can't be certain that you have one.

On another note:
You really should look into getting a second or maybe even a third opinion from other mechanics if you're really uncertain.

Clutch was replaced a year ago and now when i push the clutch it wont allow me to change gears and it sounds like an air pump

Hi,
That sounds like you have a problem in the pressure plate! Go to the nearest garage and pull down the transmission to replace the clutch assembly. But if you could get the warranty from the one who replace the clutch, inquire about it. Mostly the mechanic would replace the clutch assembly( clutch disc, pressure plate, and release bearing ). So that it will be a one time job.
Either you could tow your vehicle to the nearest garage or drive it( before starting the engine put the gear to 1st and let it start, slowly at 1st gear you could drive into the nearest shop ).
Hope that helps you out!
thanks for using FixYa!

Car wont go into gear

Have you ever replaced the clutch? If not you may need a new cluctch. It could also be your clutch slave cylinder.

The latter is much less expensive and in some cars very easy to change (i did it myself on an old Mazda Rx-7 and I'm a girl!). Hope these suggestions help.
