Question about Toyota Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Why is wrong, I have an 86 toyota truck, 22re with 0 compression in #3, 125 in 1,2 and 4. I also have a LOT of blow by at oil fill cap. WTF?

I installed a new head and the truck was driven for about 3 wks till this. There is so much blow by that it blew the oil fill cap off the valve cover. Lots of smoke through exhaust. I looked in the converter and Cat is like new... Blown rings or bent valve is what I'm thinking. Please help

A combination of valves and rings
more likely rings or hole in the piston to get so much blow by as blow by is not from valve problems
the combination could be that a valve head broke off and punched a hole in the piston

Where is the fuel filter located on my 86 4wd (22re)

You're going to laugh when you hear this...not! It's under the intake manifold, bolted to the side of the engine block. It's a real pain to do.

Trans leak on a toyota pickup

No there is no internal oil seal in the tail housing.
Maybe you damaged the seal when refitting the tailshaft.. It is easy to do.. Did you grease the seal so the tailshaft wouldn't damage it upon reinsertion?

Burning oil/Pinging/Blow by

POSSIBLE CAUSES - VALVE GUIDE OILS SEALS OR PISTON RINGS - I WOULD DO A WET AND DRY COMPRESSION CHECK AND A LEAKAGE TEST ON ALL CYLINDERS FIRST - A LEAKAGE TEST IS WHERE EACH CYLINDER IN TURN IS PUT ON THE TOP OF ITS FIRING STROKE IE PISTON AT TOP A BOTH VALVES CLOSED CONNECT AN AIR LINE AND PUT IT UNDER PRESSURE - LISTEN FOR HISSING BUY REMOVING THE OIL CAP - A LOUD NOISE - YOU HAVE PROBLEMS - ANDY

Radiator keeps over pressuring out of cap

I hate to tell you but most likely your head gasket is blown. But first have your 13 psi cap pressure tested. If the head gasket has blown out in between the cylinder and the water passage , engine compression will enter your coolant and over pressurize the cooling system. This could be caused by a pin hole in the head gasket and that is all. also make sure your head is not warped. The 22re has a cast iron block and aluminum head causing the head to expand at a different rate than the block. causing the gasket to wear and leak. Good luck.

1990 toyota 22re 4 speed has vacuum pressure in the valve cover

THIS is normal on a lot of import engines. you have a pcv valve that pulls vacuum on engine to **** out gases. when you remove the cap it is like a vacuum leak. if engine runs fine otherwise it is normal.
