Wiring schematic for jd z225. will work fine for short period of time then shut down; replaced battery twice, looked for grounded wire ; could be a relay or safety switch? Thank you

Alternator cluster wire can it be grounded to get it to charge

You can't ground a power wire. If you have the schematics, look and see were the power comes from. Could be a fuse or from the ignition switch. If everything else works, I run a new wire, instead of opening up the harness to find the short.

Have a jd 310g backhoe and everone i turn my flashers on it blows the fuse. What can be the cause of this?

Koty; There is a short in the flasher wiring system, whether it be a bad switch, pinched damaged or bare wire or a bad bulb or socket it self, excess moisture,etc. does the fuse blow when you have nothing else on, such as brake, etc.
First look for damaged pinched, bare wires, then check bulbs and sockets for burnt,melting,etc.

Low Beams went out, were replaced and new bulbs don't work

Sounds like you have a broken or shorting wire somewhere. Start by inspecting the wires at bulbs for power, then work your way back looking for issues. You could have a bad ground wire that intermittently works, or a bad power wire, or a short where a power wire is grounding. It could also be that your light switch is failing. Try fiddling with the switch to see if the lights come on and off with that.

Car runs for short period of time, lights start to dim and car shuts off.

Hi Stacy,

HAve a look at the ground wire from the battery to the chasy of the car. Make sure this is grounded in a proper manner. Replace the live wire to the starter as well and make sure the wires to and from the altinater are proporley sucure.

howdie sounds like their could be ground problem but put the alt, under load and see what it puts out,if the battery was changed look for clamps are not loose check your ground to motor wire for corrosion

Have a 1992 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Tailgate window motor problem

I looked at my schematics, and they don't show a relay. They do, however, show two ground wires coming out of the tailgate window switch. There is a ground wire for the "up" side of the switch, and a ground wire for the "down"side. These would be color-coded black, and I think that it is worth checking to make sure you don't have a corroded /broken ground running from the tailgate switch. If only one grounding wire was broken, the window would operate in only one direction. Both dash and tailgate switches share the same wiring circuit, and these wires are "hot" all the time. It's normal when you get both sides of the motor leads at 12VDC when neither switch is activated. These switches function by switching off one of the two motor leads, and connecting it to ground, thus allowing power to flow thru the motor windings. Of course, reversing the polarity on a DC motor will change the direction of rotation, so changing which black lead is switched to ground gives the up or down direction to the motor.. since you can read schematics, you might check out ebay for a used Haynes manual cheap. hope this helps

It just shuts down

It sounds like whoever changed the battery left off the ground wire to the chassis... (heavy black wire) .... or replaced the negative battery cable with a "generic" battery cable that does not have the extra "pigtail" negative cable.

If you look at the battery, check the negative side to see if the thinner cable is not connected.

Other than the obvious fix (take it back and make them do it right) ... a good permanent fix is to have them install a "grounding strap" from the engine to the chassis.

89 F150 starting problem

If you see the battery voltage dropping by 50% periodically then you have a serious short somewhere.
The first thing to do is be certain no lights are on then disconnect the battery ground.

If you don't have an amp meter then then disconnect the ground wire from the battery and connect a 12 volt test light from the cable to the battery post[If it does not light then reverse the leads from the test light because some are polarity sensitive].

If the bulb lights and you are sure nothing is on, the key is off and the doors are closed; then pull all the fuses and hook-up the test light.If the light still comes on you will probably need to seek some professional help.

If the light does not come on, then plug the fuses in one by one until you see the test light come on.
Unplug the last fuse, if the light goes out then that is the circuit where the short is located.

Wiring problem

Check the fusible links at the starter. One of them may be burned. You mentioned that it shuts down when you turn a corner. Check the wiring going to the ignition switch under the steering column, you may have a loose wire there as well.
