Your car is burning oil,it probably has high miles.

Make sure to maintain the proper oil level.

Look at you oil level as being the equivelant to blood in your body, without oil your car will die.

Is it leaking somewhere or are you burning it ?

Other possible causes of blue exhaust smoke include: piston wear, worn valve seals, a dirty or non-functioning PCV valve, worn piston rings, an intake manifold gasket leak, worn engine oil seals and possibly even head gasket failure. Oil leaking into the cylinders can cause a rough idle, misfire and fouled spark plugs.

That could be a sign of a blown head gasket check and make sure the car is not over heating if so that may be the case.

96 Saturn sl2,smoke problem will a bad valve cover gasket make vehicle smoke like crazy out exhaust system

What color is the smoke? White or Blue?
If it's more white than blue you probably have a bad head gasket or a warped / cracked head. The smoke you're seeing is coolant seeping into a combustion chamber. Major job.

If it's more blue/grey you might have rings that are shot, or a piston that has a hole in it.

Either way, it really doesn't have much to do with that valve cover gasket; that gasket will just make it leak oil. If it get's on the exhaust it will smoke, but not out the tailpipe.

I ran my chev. 1990 pickup out of oil and now it smokes so bad. and i think my fuel pump is going out but not sure??

Sounds like you may have ruined the piston rings and this is allowing oil to seep in to the combustion chamber hence your smoke. Or if it overheated when you ran out of oil it is possible that you have a bad head gasket now. Check both your coolant and oil for signs, oil will have a white froth, or darkening of your coolant. Hope that helps you.

Well my car continues to run hot ... i put new thermostat in... and new sensor for the fans to kick on but they wont come on... bled by coolant lines... everything i can think of... o and my car smokes to...

Smoke coming out of engine compartment or tailpipe? If coming out of tailpipe then you have a bad head gasket. As for the fans. Get some wire and run a line directly from the battery to the fans. Fans should kick on. If not, you have bad fan motors.

SMOKE COMING OUT THE TAILPIPE

blue smoke = burning oil

however, your symptoms sound more like black smoke which means you are running rich.... this could be caused by leaking injectors

personally it sounds like you have multiple unrelated concerns... which do you want to address first

Why does my honda accord smoke reel bad

This is either worn valve stem seals or worn out oil rings. Have someone follow you if the car smokes more as you release the throttle on deceleration it is most likely valve stem seal if it smokes more on acceleration it is worn oil piston rings. If the smoke is white you have a blown head gasket blue smoke means burning oil, black smoke means too rich (to much gas reaching motor)

Smoke comes out of the tailpipe when first

60,000 miles or so depending on the engine but if its blue smoke which it means its oil burning its sounds like valve guide seals.

White Smoke from tailpipe

If you find any coolant loss, likely the head gasket is beginning to leak or you have a small crack in the cylinder head that is opening up when it warms up. If you have it checked, you will save yourself large problems down the road. Sometimes you will see a slight greenish residue on spark plug electrodes. Sometimes even shop tests are inconclusive if leak is very small. But, I can't see the smoke from here and really can't advise further.
Good Luck

1986 Honda Accord, tons of blue smoke from the tailpipe

Puffs blue smoke

Blue smoke is caused by engine oil entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture. As with the white smoke, just a small drop of oil leaking into the cylinder can produce blue smoke out the tailpipe. Blue smoke is more likely in older or higher mileage vehicles than newer cars with fewer miles.

This could mean a cracked head or bad gasket....It costly
