Kubota L3600 Tractor. Ignition safety interlock sw under shift lever replaced. won't turn over. Ignition clicks, nothing. other interlocks? Suggestions?

Hello Joe...The Aveo has had it shares of problems, and this is one of them....NHTSA issued several bulletins on the 04 Aveo...this following is the one pertaining to the shift interlock.....

Take that bulletin number to your dealer and see if they can help.

Untill you can get it repaired heres a little tip for getting it out of park....There is a a little hole in front of their gearshift lever that can correct the problem, temporarily. It should say "brake interlock release" or something like that. With car running, put a key-size object into it and push down while moving the lever. It does not damage the transmission, it just releases the lock. (make sure your foot is on the brake)

Now for the brake light issue...do you have power at the switch you replaced? If so go to the relay and check there...if no power there it's probably a bad ground.

Also...you may or may not know, but the timing belts on these Aveos are prone to failure at aprox 50k ...these failures have caused severe engine damage.

I think that your battery is dead. Try jump starting the car. Be careful that you hook the jumper cables correctly, red to positive[the + on the battery] black to negative[the- on the battery].

Park neutral safety switch could be bad , also the shift interlock safety system .
Shift Interlock System A brake/shifter interlock system consists of the following:
  • ignition switch (11572)
  • brake pedal stoplight switch (13480)

  • brake shift interlock solenoid assembly (attached to key interlock assembly)
  • necessary wiring
On floor-shift vehicles, the ignition/shifter interlock cable (3F719):
  • locks the floor shift transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  • requires the floor shift transaxle range selector lever to be in the PARK position to turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Condition Possible Source Action

  • Check Fuse 5 (5A) located in fuse junction panel.
Is fuse OK?

  • Disconnect shift-lock actuator connector C203 located to the right of steering column.

Is resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes No REPLACE Fuse 5 (5A). GO to A3 . SERVICE Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) wire between fuse junction panel and shift-lock actuator. A3 CHECK POWER SUPPLY FROM FUSE 5 (5A)
  • Reinstall Fuse 5 (5A).
  • Turn ignition switch to RUN.
  • Measure voltage on Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) wire and ground.
Is voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes No GO to A4 . SERVICE Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) wire between interior fuse panel and shift-lock actuator. A4 CHECK POWER SUPPLY FROM FUSE 28 (15A)
  • Turn ignition switch OFF.
  • Disconnect connector C2016.

Fuse for brake lights keeps blowing out, shifter won't go into gear


Your vehicle has a safety system that won't let you take it out of park unless you have the brake pedal pressed ! Your brake switch could be shorted inside causing fuse to blow !
Shift Interlock System A brake/shifter interlock mechanism prevents shifting the transmission out of the PARK position unless the brake pedal (2455) is applied. The system consists of the following components:
  • an actuator activated by the key interlock assembly and brake pedal pressed input.
  • necessary wiring.
The system operates as follows:
  • The actuator is energized when the ignition switch is turned to RUN, locking the transmission range selector lever in the PARK position. When the brake pedal is applied and the stoplight switch (13480) is activated, the shift lock actuator is deactivated.
  • The transmission range selector lever can be moved out of the PARK position.
The ignition/shifter interlock cable (3F719) locks the transmission range selector lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position. It also requires the selector lever to be in the PARK position to turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

The linkage are hooked up but the car still want go into park,a 2000 Taurus

What problems will I hav wit a bad ignition switch on my ford 500


Several, like failing to activate the starter or failing to shut off the Ignition completely when the engine is off. Just depends on which terminal is the worst.

Now there is an Interlock switch which links the shift cable, Ignition switch and brakes for safety. Sometimes this switch, the Interlock, will make it impossible to use the starter when the Ignition key is turned to the start position.

The Interlock switch is located on the brake pedal lever under the dash. It often gets dislodged or broken by the Drivers' feet. Depending on your symptoms, the Interlock switch could well be the cause of your problems.

1986 ford F150: Turned key to start my truck now stuck in park and won't start


This is really confusing. What is it you are trying to fix? You are going in different directions all at the same time, which I am guessing is part of your problem. Are you trying to fix? A "no-start" problem? a "no-crank" problem a "cannot get shift lever out of PARK" problem or a problem with not being able to turn the key???

What was the original problem? - WHY did you replace the ignition switch? Did you replace the "IGNITION SWITCH" or did you replace the "KEY AND TUMBLER" assembly?

Disable WHAT interlock? The shift interlock ? What would that do to get your truck started? The gearshift interlock has absolutely NOTHING to do with the starting system. If your gearshift interlock is not working, the most likely cause is a bad brake lamp switch.

It sounds to me like you need to figure out what it is you want to fix before you jump in and go replacing any more parts. I do not mean to be offensive, but it really sounds like you are creating more problems than you are fixing at this point.

My 2005 Pacifica will not disengage from park and the check engine, brake and anti-skid warning lights are all on


SHIFTER LOCKED IN PLACE

  1. Remove the instrument panel cover below the steering column, then remove the steering column shrouds to gain access to the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) solenoid. The solenoid is part of the interlock cable assembly.
  2. Disconnect the wire connector from the rear of the BTSI solenoid.
  3. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position.
  4. With the brakes applied, try moving the shifter out of the PARK position.
    • If the lever now moves freely in and out of PARK, perform the Circuit Test below.
    • If the shift lever still does not move from the PARK position, remove the BTSI solenoid from the shift lever assembly. If the shift lever now moves freely in and out of the park position, the BTSI solenoid is faulty and the interlock cable must be replaced. If the shift lever still does not move from the park position, the problem is in the shift lever assembly or the ignition interlock cassette

2006 chrysler pacifica - drove car into my garage and shut down. Next morning I could not get the car to shift out of park.


some are set up with safety with brake lites out. ck if brake lites work if not turn key on do not start and shift to neautral and start and have brake lites repaired

Will not come out of park!


The 2001 Kia Sportage is equipped with a brake safety interlock. When you depress the brake pedal you should hear a click coming from the base of the shift lever. The click is a safety interlock which prevents accidental shifting out of park unless you have your foot on the brake. This is the most common cause for the vehicle shifter to be stuck in park. There is a switch that is activated by the brake pedal, the switch in turn energizes an interlock, which makes an audible click, allowing movement of the shift lever out of park position. If you do not hear a click when applying the brake it is most likely either the brake switch contacts or interlock solenoid.

2006 Chrysler Pacifica- Will not shift out of Park, the steering wheel isn't locked, and the brake is releasing as it should. What else could it be?


Can't get out Park, starts ok, tried the manuel thing pressing
the pink release button, nothing. Had the car towed but
they had to hoist it on a truck. Was there a recall for this?

Loss of blower fan, turn signals and won't come out of park


Check for a blown fuse. This vehicle has a safety feature that allows it to switch gears only when the brake pedal is depressed and the ignition is turned forward. When the brake pedal is depressed it sends a voltage signal to the shift interlock solenoid that then allows it to shift.You can manually unlock the shifter by inserting a pin into the arperture on the left side of the center console. Push the locking lever rearwards to allow the selector lever to be moved.Also check to see if your brake lights are working this is where the shift interlock solenoid gets the voltage from if they are working chances are the shift interlock solenoid has gone bad.
