Question about Mitsubishi Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse won't crank over. Takes a few times turning the key over and over to get it to crank. Other times it starts right up no problem. Is my starter going out?

Not necessarily. You may simply have a bad connection at the battery or at the starter solenoid. You could also have a grounding problem at the starter or at the starter solenoid. Or you could have a failing contact in your key switch! When you try to crank the engine, but it does not crank, do you hear any clicks or any kind of rattle sound or buzz? If you hear a click but no cranking of the engine, then you may have a bad starter solenoid ... which, if available, is a lot cheaper than a replacement starter!

2007 mitsubishi eclipse hard to start after filling up tank. No check engine light on. Bad starter?

Maybe the carbon cannister is loaded up. Try parking the car facing uphill and see if that's better.

Starter is probably OK. Need more symptoms. OR it will be 20 question time. Takes a LONG time cranking B-4 the engine begins to run? That's what I'm guessing.

Does nothing to take the key back out and try it again.Just keep cranking until the engine starts to run.Don't be afraid to crank it for 15 seconds,or so.

I get a green light with a key in the center flashing when I try and start my eclipse and it cranks fast

Generally speaking, you have a chip in the key that is read by the security system. If the system does not "see" the right chip, the system locks out the ignition and fuel systems.
The new key probably does not have a chip or the wrong chip.

Sounds like your battery is either flat, or has bad connection.

make sure there's not release button first.
turn the key all the way back and forth (without starting it)
wiggle the key rapidly while trying to slowly pull the key out.

once you get it out try putting some graphite power in there and working it back and forth

I have a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse ga with a 3.0 it will turn over but won't start

Spray starting fluid in the intake air to see if it is a fuel problem. If it starts then you are looking at a fuel pump or filter. If not then we will have to go through some more diagnostics but this is the starting point. Do you have the original ignition key for it. These keys are chiped and a copied key will not work. tnaautomotive@hotmail.com

My 2001 Eclipse will on occasion not crank over when turning the key. The battey V is fine, the lights come on. After a few key turns (a couple of "dead" turns) the car will start right up.

Sounds like a bad connection between your starter relay and starter. Check your connection at the battery post, the starter relay and the cable for the starter. Loosen and re-tighten these. It could be a simple corrosion keeping the connection unstable.

1990 mitsubishi eclipse gs 2.o turbo. the car crank no start

Sounds like a failed or disconnected ignition coil wire.
Hook up an OBD reader and crank the thing for awhile watch the reader for the code. Look up the code number . You may need a book for your car to do this. The reader will tell you what's amiss.
