SOURCE: need torque setting for 1993 geo tracker front

i1m sorry to say that wheel bearings are not set to a torque specification, when you have repacked the bearings [ inner and outer ] ,reassembled it ,take the nut up until thewheel starts to drag and not turn very far when you try to spin it spin it backward and forward several times, grab the top of the wheel and try to push it in and out,if you getany movement at all tighten the nut a couple of castilations. do it all over again, spinthe wheel a few times and then try for the crossways movement again, if there is no movement ,you are very close to being right....................now comes the experience bit , iwould take it one more castilation of the nut because i know the feel that is need ed,,without that i suggest you put the pin in where you ereput the cap on and go for a 5 minute drive . whenyou get back ,jack it up and thespinning of the wheel again and try for the top crossways movement ,if there is any tighten thenut 2 castilations, and provided that when you try to spin the wheel by hand with a reasonably strong push the wheel should trael about 6 inches at least after your hand leaves it ,it is now a close as you are going to get itput it all to gether and for the next day or so put yor hand on the grease cap after you have driven anydistance, and you will feel it is warm but you should be able tohold your hand on the grease cap. there you have it ,any questions come back."youdoit"

SOURCE: Does anyone know the torque wrench settings for

Tightening torque for the hub nut is 200Nm and the road wheels are 85Nm

NOTE: The rear wheel bearings are remowned on these cars for sticking to the stub axle quite badly, and often have to be forced off using a slide hammer on the drum, it is quite common to end up damaging the wheel bearing, so be prepared to replace this as well in this event

What is the torque setting for the front wheel bearing

There isn't a specific torque setting. You tighten the bearing nut while measuring axial play in the bearing. You want .01-.02mm of play in the bearing. A good rule of thumb is to tighten the nut with channel locks. Hold them backward so they don't pull tight on the nut as you turn. Turn not while holding pliers loosely until they slide off. Don't overtighten, you'll quickly trash the new bearings.

TOOLS YOU NEED IS 35 METRIC SOCKET FOR AXLE NUT.USE 6 POINT SOCKET.DONT USE 12 POINT SOCKET.COULD DAMAGE AXLE BOLT EDGES.MAKING IT HARD TO GET OFF.YOU NEED A TORQUE WRENCH WITH THE RANGE OF 200 FT LBS TORQUE.YOU NEED 1/2 BREAK BAR.AND A HUB PULLER.NOW TO LOOSEN AXLE NUT.BEST TO LEAVE TIRE ON WITH CAR WEIGHT ON GROUND TO LOOSEN THE AXLE.BECAUSE ITS GOT 192 FT LBS TORQUE.HARD TO LOOSEN WITH TIRE OFF.192 FT LBS TORQUE IS WHAT YOU TORQUE IT AT.BESURE TO READ INSTRUCTIONS TO NEW HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY. YOUR AXLE NUT TORQUE WILL BE DIFFERENT IF YOU GET A NEW GREY NUT.BECAUSE NUT STRENGHT WILL BE DIFFERENT.IF YOU GET A BLACK NUT WHICH IS HARDER STEEL TORQUE WILL BE 192 FT LBS.YOU NEED A 13 METRIC SWIVEL SOCKET TO GET HUB BEARING BOLTS OFF THEY WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH WITH OUT IT.HUB BEARING BOLTS TORQUE IS 62 FT LBS

Torque setings

if it is a solid bearing do it up as tight as you can.if it is a tapered bearing do it up untill the nut is touching the bearing check the hub for play if you have got play do the nut up a bit more until the play is gone in the hub.make sure you do not over tighten the bearing or the wheel will not turn freely.the wheel needs to spin with no drag.
