The most common cause of clutch judder when releasing to pull away is oil on the plates. That can be caused by main bearing seals failing.

The clutch has been replaced, no oil leaks were detected. The clutch that was replaced was clean, and also showed no signs of wear that would cause the shudder. What else can cause this? We have checked engine mounts, transfer box mounts.

The shudder started after a 4x4 trip. There was zero shudder prior to this trip. The trip wasn't too tough, I didn't do anything that could have stressed the clutch either. I don't often use 4x4, and sometimes noticed a slight vibration for a short while after using it before. This would usually go away after a short while, I figured it might simple be a propshaft that needs to be balanced.

The shudder is the worst under low load when releasing the clutch. It is completely absent after clutch release at idle speed and above. Same in reverse gear, and noticeable when gearing down.

The only part that has not been replaced is the flywheel. It has been reground twice, and rechecked for any runout, but no findings. Could there be a material flaw in the flywheel that could cause this? Maybe varying hardness? It looked fine before grinding, and perfect after grinding.

Not a contaminated plate then. could be a balance issue? Who knows until it is stripped down and tested.

90% of all clutch shudder is caused by worn/weak/overheated clutch disc torsion springs and the cure is a replacement clutch disc. The other 10 % is soft/defective motor mounts.

Where is the PCV valve on my 1993 Nissan D21 4cyl 4x4?

Cannot find PCV in my abbreviations list ,if this is what i think it is then its nice motor ,a serena with a diesel engine ,ok to work on once you take all the front seats out and a absolute doddle to fit a new clutch but they do suffer from the camshaft pulley coming loose due to the keyway being cast into the gearwheel ,i always drill a hole and tap and thread it then fit a bolt this stops any further trouble .

My 2005 nissan pathfinder does a shudder when hitting 60mph, but only when the overdrive is on...what causes this?

it sounds like u have transmission torque converter clutch shudder, I recommened you change the fluid and add 2 ounces of gear oil friction modifier, this works very well at curing this type of shudder issue.

1991 Isuzu 4X4 Pickup 3.1 V6 won't warm start plus shudder in low

Your flywheel sound like it has hot spots on it, making the clutch chatter. You might need to pull the flywheel off and get it re-surface. This is like turning your rotor, or brake drum. If you pull the flywheel, you will see discolor spots on your flywheel. This is called hot spots, and will make the clutch slip.

On the other problem, have you changed to fuel filter and fuel pump. It almost sound like your running out of fuel????

Slight hesitation on pull-off with slight autobox shudder

Yes. Sounds like a plugged Trans filter or burned fluid. A full service on the Trans usually runs about $90 and is money well spent.

Another problem-which bugged me for 3 months, and had your similar symptoms, was a worn out fan clutch. It sent a shudder throughout the vehicle which mimicked a transmission issue. I know it sounds silly, but a new fan clutch cured my shifting issues.

The fan should rotate smoothly with some resistance (Engine OFF, of course) If you feel binding of any kinf, it probably is bad. Also check to see if you can cause movement fore and aft. If you can get it to rock back and forth, it is bad and needs to be replaced.

A fan clutch for that vehicle usually runs about $55
