Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek

2 Answers

My anti lock brake light started coming on when I took left hand turns. It is now coming on when I take left and right turns, every now and then the brakes are not at there full capacity as the brake petal will go 1/2 way down and feels kinda grindy. I did have my brakes redone last July, so it has one been a year. The car is also making weird noised like a tire hitting side as you turn. Any ideas?

This sounds like your cv boots when you take a turn do you hear a clicking sound?. If so that is what it is. If thats the case I would get them repacked soon as possible if not you will have to replace the whole boot or maybe cheaper to replace the whole axle. With your breaks going to the 1/2 way to the floor you either need the brakes bleed or need new brakes. But with you saying they feel grindy you probably need new brakes. Hope this helps.

Have your front and rear brakes checked along with the wheel bearings front and rear.
Do this now because it sounds like you have a dangerous condition!

My 2005 Chrysler Sebring started and turned off three times now, it just has a blinking red light?

Anti-Lock Warning Light (ABS) - If Equipped This light monitors the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) described elsewhere in this manual. This light will come on when the ignition key is turned to the ON position and may stay on for as long as four seconds. If the ABS light remains on or comes on during driving, it indicates that the Anti-Lock portion of the brake system is not functioning and that service is required, however, the conventional brake system will continue to operate normally provided that the BRAKE warning light is not on. If the ABS light is on, the brake system should be serviced as soon as possible to restore the benefit of Anti-Lock Brakes. 24 7 Locksmith Orchard Park NY 716 710 7400 Locksmith Orchard Park NY

The anti-lock brake light keeps coming on. After the first time and 3 mechanics later it was determined that the hubs on the front right and left had to be replaced, which I did. It was fine for awhile...

there may be a loose connection at the front hubs, or damged CV boots allowing grease to accumilate on the sensors, bring it back to the mechanic as they didnt properly fix it!!

The anti lock brake light keeps coming on after startup

Your anti lock brakes have become history, the light is going to stay on, because the brakes are gone. You still have brakes, but you don't have the anti lock device. Most cars give out in the rear, and most people do not get them fixed, expensive. They just put tape over the light and drive. I took the bulb out of the dash, have never had a braking problem, been years. But I didn't tell you what to do, just what I did. Hope this helps.

Anti-Lock and Trac Off lights are lit on my 1999 Alero, as well. They usually come on after about 5 minutes of driving, but are not always on when I start the car.
