Fuel pumps only come on for a second to pressurize the system. Not uncommon to here it for a second before engine starts. I've got a Nissan that does it that way. Not saying they all are that way, but it doesn't mean the pump is bad.

Testimonial: "Well it come on and goes off by itself even with the fuel filter removed and fuel lines wide open. Pumps a little fuel and shuts off. Apparently either it's a fuel cutoff switch or bad fuel pressure switch."

I think the pump may be good but something shuts it off

It may be a timer that cuts it off, and only runs when the engine is running. Don't want it pumping fuel out if there was a leak and engine was off. You can hook it back up and try starter spray in the intake. If it sputters and runs for a second then you have a fuel issue as the spray will act as the fuel for a second. If still nothing even with the spray then it's something else.

Truck starts and then dies immediately. Runs with starter fluid. Has new fuel pump, compression checked, sensors good. What else can it be?

Have you considered the possibility of a theft or security system fault. Theft protection will cut power to fuel system if it does not pick up the key code. The transponder on the key could have lost its code or there could be a fault in the ecm "computer" that cuts power to fuel pump. Have you check fuel pump to see if it is getting power when vehicle cuts off immediately after start? That would be a good first place to start. Good Luck.
