I Have a 2007 GMC Acadia that has an intermittent Stabilitrak warning. It only illuminates the trouble light when slowing or going downhill...going uphill or level is OK
All fluid levels seem to be full...Power Steering, Transmission, Brake Fluid, and Xfer case. This seems to be a fluid level issue or a inertial sensor since it seems sensitive to the orientation of the car, which also coincides with the inertia...going downhill or braking provides the same sensation, as does going uphill or accelerating. On level driving it is usually OK, although in western Pa there isn't too much level roadway. I'd rather see if I can find a fix online than pay $1000 for a dealer's easy fix. Any ideas?
In addition, the check engine light comes on but has been doing this for years. The engine codes usually indicate an O2 sensor, nothing about the stabilitrak or traction control (which also shows up in the trouble message).
Hi James, did you find what was wrong? I have the exact same issue with a 2010 Acadia. Thanks.Hi James, did you find what was wrong? I have the exact same issue with a 2010 Acadia. Thanks.
Haven't found the problem yet. I also have very rough downshifting and high idle speeds. I tried the disconnected battery trick, but that didn't fix the problem(but it DID fix some other oddball problems. Please let me know if you have found any answers, please.Haven't found the problem yet. I also have very rough downshifting and high idle speeds. Do you mean 2006 GMC Envoy? Top left- car with squiggly tire tracks and a wrench- that means something is wrong with your Stabilitrak (traction control) system. Top right- triangle around the car with squiggly tire tracks- this light comes on when the light on the top left comes on. It also means something is wrong with the Stabilitrak system. Bottom left- Antilock Brake System warning light- This means there is a fault in the antilock brake system. Considering that the stabilitrak control is part of the antilock brake system, it looks like there may be a common problem affecting both systems. You need to use a scan tool to access the chassis control system and read the diagnostic codes. There are definitely Diagnostic Trouble Codes stored when these lights are on. The code does not tell you what part to replace, but rather gives you a direction to go in diagnosing the cause of the problem.
{: ) Your stabilitrak system may not work properly. The vehicle need to be scanned for trouble codes. In case you get a C0196 code, the recommendation is to reprogram the electronic brake control module. I hope that's the only cause.
This is your cars computer warning you she needs attention. Most vehicles with complex systems require the auto dealers computer to decode these messages and reset the system after the worn part is replaced and or necessary adjustments are made. I hope this helps you.
