You must go under the car and there is a level check port under there on the side of the tranny, unless you see a leak no need to check EVER.

Where do I check transmission fluid level check andadd more fluid if needed.

There is a dip stick with a red handle in the rear of the engine (right between the engine and the firewall). This is where you check the fluid and add any necessary fluid. To properly check the fluid, drive the car until it is at normal operating temperature. When you stop, leave the car running, and shift through all of the gears, pausing for about 2 or 3 seconds between gears. While the engine is running, pull out the dip stick, wipe it off, put it all the way back in, and remove it again. The fluid level should be in the cross hatched area of the dip stick. If it is not, add fluid a LITTLE at a time. It does not take much to over fill the transaxle.

Dear Sir, I have a 2001 C-70 convertable and it shifts hard. I want to check the transmission fluid and possible add some if needed but I don't know what type of fluid to put in or where to put it.I don't...

Access to the transmission dip stick is not easy. It is hidden deep under tube and wiring beneath the air intake tube near the battery, it has a yellow top labelled 'Trans' and has a clip that secures the top in place. Check the fluid level when the engine is running and the transmission is in 'park'. If low find some suitable hose to locate it into the dip stick tube and then fit a funnel in the end of this 'extension'. The fluid specified is AW5, Volvo part number 1161540-8, do not use anything else as some fluids do not mix well. Add fluid about a pint a time and check the level each time.

Where is the nozzle for the transmission fluid located?

You add fluid down the same tube that the fluid dip stick is using. remove the dip stick and use a funnel to add fluid in the same tube.

How do I check the transmission fluid, and do I add the transmission fluid to the same place as where the dip stick is?

Pull the dip stick out and check it while the truck is running in park, Yes you add it through the dip stick tube if necessary, but a little at a time don't over fill it.

Auto trani - right ?
You add fluid through were the trani dip stick is.. Its called a filler tube..
Need a funal..

Do it while the engine is on & idling in park.. Its best isall is good & warm..

The dipstick mesures in pints - not quarts so be carefull not to over fill.. Do a little at a time..
Overfilling causes damage..

Hope this helps !!
Please rate me good ;o)

Needs transmission fluid cannot find where fluid goes?

look for the trans fluid dip stick. Get a funnel with a thin flexible hose at the bottom, and pour the trans fluid in where the dipstick goes. Give it a few mins to settle, and dip the stick to measure again. Add slowly to avoid overfill. If overfill, you will need to remove some, and that can be tricky.
(Shop vac, fluid container, etc... oe drin it from the bottom. )

Your transmission is going to fail sooner or later, the whining noise you hear is the the clutch packs in the transmission going out.

Transmission fluid

First make sure you need transmission fluid by checking the fluid level. To do this the transmission needs to be warm, in park with the engine running. Pull the dip stick out of the tube and wipe off with a rag or paper towel. Re insert dip stick all the way down and pull dip stick back out. Is the fluid red and is the fluid level in the hatch marks? If so it's ok. If below the min. level mark you will need to add fluid. Use a funnel and stick into the end of the transmission dipstick tube. Add the necessary amount of transmission fluid by pouring it into the funnel. Use ATF-3 fluid and do not overfill. Add a little at a time (like a 1/4 of a quart at a time). Also when checking fluid level be sure vehicle is on level ground.
