Dear Willie,
That will depend on the vehicle you are driving.
Modern cars & trucks, etc. sometimes have such things monitored by their computer because of the danger of fires in an accident.
For example, about 25 years ago, I know Ford put a stop system in the fuel , and when a man hit a woman pedestrian and killed her in our town, the pick--up truck had a fuel shut off which disabled his truck immediately, which is how the police found him, as he tried to drive away without getting caught.

If you turn the key on should a fuel pump have a study flow of fuel on my 95 vw jetta

No, you will only have a short burst. The fuel pump continues to run once it sees the vehicle has started. The only way to get a steady flow would be to jump the fuel pump relay (for test purposes).

1999 chrysler 3.5 lhs fuel not going to injectors

Then your fuel pump is not working, or your fuel filter is blocked. You will probably have to check your fuel pump circuit if you have no fuel pressure in the fuel rail, where the injectors sit. There is a fuse for the pump, usually in the under hood fuse/relay block. That is probably also where the fuel pump relay is located. You should hear or feel this relay click when the ignition key is cycled from off to on. Also, when the key is turned to on, you should hear the fuel pump in the gas tank turn on for about 2 seconds. This will put the pressure in the gas in the fuel rail, for starting the engine. If you don't hear the pump turn on for that 2 second period, it is probably a bad fuel pump. But know the fuse is good first.

Tacoma 2001 isnt geting anny gas solution

sounds like yiour fuel pump is not running or you have a clooged fuel filter. If the pump is not running it could be the relay or a bad pump. The pump runs for about 1.5 second when you turn on the key.. go to back of truck and have someone just turn the key on to the accessory position. you should be able to hear the pump start and stop.. Kinda a bussing noise.

Fuel supply

check for battery power at the pump. if you have power and you can't hear the pump hum when someone turns the key on and you listen at the tank filler... change the pump. if you hear the pump come on check the fuel filter for clogging and flow.... no flow means bad pump

Car tries to start but won't stay running. I do not hear the fuel pump pre prime and do not get fuel flow when i turn the key on. When i crank it the motor i do get fuel flow. I have replaced the pump...

The fuel pump may need replaced. Unfortunately most newer vehicles have an electric pump located inside the gas tank so it's not a simple job to replace the pump. Please rate this answer, thanks.

The truck will start, run for anywhere from 5 seconds to almost a minute then turn off, but will start right back up and do the same thing

Fuel pump turn on when you turn the key? Could also be a gummed up fuel filter or possible a fouled fuel line. You can check the fuel flow by disconnecting the fuel line between the pump and filter to check flow while someone else turns the key on (you will only need a second or two to see the fuel flow and be careful to point the fuel line into a container to collect the fuel- away from your face). Then re attach the filter and check flow coming out of the filter. If it is considerably lower pressure coming out of the filter that is your issue.
There may be more reasons than these as well for someone more experienced to answer.

Doesn't get fire since replacing fuel pump.

Normally after replacement of the fuel pump you need to get the fuel flowing back through the system again. To do this, turn the ignition key until you hear the fuel pump kick in for a few seconds, then turn key back to off. Repeat this several times to get the fuel flowing. If this doesn't help, you will need to ensure that the fuel pump is actually coming on. Let me know

Tied to solve problem why 1996 chevy Blazer won't start

They should be on seperate circuits. Tyour key on and ck to see if you have any fuel flow. Fuel pumps in tanks do **** out. chk to see if you have any fuel flow by loosening a fluel line. No fuel, no pump. good luck

Try cleaning the connector under your Air Flow Meter. Its that box that the air intake goes to before going to the engine. If that isnt working, your fuel pump wont either, as it has control over your fuel pump.
