Question about Honda Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Hi, I have recently bought a 79 honda cb750 kz dohc, but it won't start.

Any ideas what to check for as I'm going round in circles? It has been running and sounded well, then I left it a couple of weeks. Now it won't offer to start or fires up on 1 cylinder no 4. After re checking every thing and replacing the plugs, I had it running, it sounded well, but not starting now. I'm open to any suggestions ?

SOURCE: low compression in #1and #2 cylinders 1993 eclipse gs 1.8l

burned valve is likely the culprit.... or bad rings.... hook air up to that cyclinder one at a time.... and listen where the air is escaping... be aware that the motor will rotate till the piston is at the bottom of it's rotation. if it's a burned valve you will have to remove the head and replace it but somewhat easier job then replacing the rings. darn almost forgot.... it can also be a blown head gasket.... same procedure but you might need a brush and some soap water to test for an air leak at the side of the head. when you are done spray some wd 40 on it to get the water off so the spark plugs do not arc.

SOURCE: spark plug firing order

check the ignition coil power source...get a test light & check for power with the key on @ the positive side of the coil...if it does have power have a friend crank the engine over & check the negative side for a flashing light..if it does then make sure you have spark @ the coil if not replace the coil

SOURCE: 91 LEGACY STARTED RUNNING ROUGH

The cylinders are numbered as on the spark pack you changed. You might have done better putting the seafoam in the tank as an injector cleaner. Not sure why you changed so many parts, you seem to know how to get the codes from test connector lead hookup and the blink pattern. You might also want to check the fuel rail pressure and the crank and cam angle sensors. Before replacing the injector, swap the #4 injector with the adjacent one and see it the code moves with the injector or stays put. If the code stays on #4, then check the injector wiring, if it moves clean or replace the injector.

SOURCE: 1995 honda accord won't start

Sounds either like the solenoid on the starter is bad or the starter its self.First try turning on your head lights and then trying to start it.If it starts then you have some bad connections either on the battery or the starter. next if that doesnt work Try hitting the starter with a hammer while someone else cranks it.If it starts then the starter is bad..

SOURCE: Honda Accord one cylinder not firing

The cylinder is not getting fuel, spark or compression. You have already checked for spark on that cable and it appears to be good. Pull the spark plug and see if it is damaged. You can also switch spark plug and cable to another cylinder and see if the miss travels with the plug and or cable. If so, you'll know its the spark plug/cable that is bad.

You can check for fuel by listening to the fuel injector to see if it clicks. Use an automotive stethoscope or a long screwdriver--put the metal end of the screwdriver on the injector and the other end against your ear and listen to the injector while the engine is cranking or running. You should hear it click for each time it pulses fuel.

If both fuel and spark are good, then you are probably missing compression in that cylinder. You (or a mechanic) will need to pull all the spark plugs and do a engine compression test with a compression test/gage set. Lots of things can lead to poor or zero compression including: broken piston rings, burned/stuck/broken valves, cracked cylinder head or engine block, cracked pistons, etc.

Because one cylinder is "dead", the engine has to work extra hard to start and run against a cylinder that is dragging it down. If you find low/no compression in that cylinder, you will probably have to remove the cylinder head to correct it. A big expensive job. It may be cost effective to replace the whole engine with a rebuilt one.

My 2000 ford expoler 4.0 dohc won't start fuel pump won't come on mabe my anti-theft how do i check that

Drop the tank and on top of the tank where the wires go is a special sort of electrical gizmo that will not allow the pump to work unless it gets the right frequency signal so just bypass it and run the wires direct onto the fuel pump --sorted--

if your d4 light started flashing, then that means a transmission sensor is failing, which causes your transmission to act funny.ill get back to you with a method on checking them and a list of codes to get you started, but dont go and ask for a new transmission. it might not be necessary.

check your crank position sensor for resistance and check if the resistance comes out to what it suppose to be.if not then you need a new one...i think the range would be 2200 to 3000ohms but i would refer that you check the specified resistance before you check it. i hope that would solve your problem
