Don't you hate that?? I would rather have a dead battery than a bad tranny. Did it die completely or did it go into the fail safe mode? Some have a low speed mode, enough to get you home, some don't. First thing to do is check the fluid. If it is full, smell it to see if it smells burned. If it does, start looking for a new one. The tranny shop will swap it out for $1200. Do it yourself fixes don't usually work, especially if it burned. If it just quit, it isn't the shift solenoids, It could be the lock up thing, I have no idea where it is located, but you can google it and find out. The bottom on the tranny that holds the filter is a valve body that has a bunch of goodies on it, sometimes they are located on the outside of the tranny so you can get to them without taking the thing out of the car. It is a big job. Hope this helps.
