How do I rectify indicator lights not working at all, on a 2003 Toyota Prado (Petrol)

If the blinkers on the car are working when the trailer is not connected but they fail when you connect the trailer plug, it is because the LOAD of the bulbs on the trailer exceed the capacity of the BLINKER CIRCUIT of the vehicle. I would recommend replacing the tail lights on the trailer with LED tail lights. Did that on my travel trailer, and it solved the problem 100%

Can i get a wiring diagram for the trailer

Hi Sherri:
Trailer wiring us usually really straightforward. There will be running lights for the licence plate and both sides, and combined brake/signal for left and right sides separately. That and one ground. If you have access to a voltmeter/continuity meter you can identify them and wire the connector plug accordingly.

Negative voltage at tail lights

Thanks Syntax Error for letting us know you figured out the wiring harness was wired incorrectly. It is always a good idea to look up the color wiring standard for the socket and to check the pin positions and what functions .
Sometimes trailers can be wired incorrectly also ?
I wired the licence plate bulb to my brown wire by mistake and this is the brake wire . Took a while for me to figure that one out !

No power to the trailer and fuses under dash check okay

Had that problem on my Jimmy. Turns out there was a short in the trailer wiring and it blew a small fuse that powers the trailer pigtail and my licence plate lights. It was located in the fuse box / power distribution box under the hood. There are 1 or 2 of them in there, you should be able to locate the box fairly easily, they are almost always plainly marked. Tail light running lights, and liscense plate lights dont work, but breaklights, signal, and hazard lights work

The tail lights and licence lamp is all the same circuit, should be a brown wire to all 3, it sounds like its broken in the harness somewhere (especially if the front park lamps work, then the fuse and switch are good). Trace back from rear lights until you find power. Check for pinched wires or cut, or bulges in the wire indicating resistence. Also if you have wired in a trailer plug, disconnect it and retry. Trailer wires are very seldomly wired properly and cause lots of light issues.
