Hi I got a my16 mq triton was out bush in 4wd low range and got a stick caught underneath and

Broke the wires off the plastic box on the rear of the transfer case how can I put into high 2wd until I get the parts in to be fixed

The relay must be energised so no easy task.

check iff its an adjusteble chifter.if not you have to replace the cabble,
check also transmission fluid level is correct.

4x4 dont work


you have 4w low.. low/lock..4w high and hi lock..4w low is just a slower set of gears that gives the truck way more power for like pulling or towing in harse conditions.. 4 w hi is more for traction at hyway speeds..you may have a seperate lock lever.. most do..

Try key in run position(without starting it) and try to shift it into 4wd high with the shift lever in neutral.

take the steering to etreem left nd right and then try to remove the gear stick strongly.....go front and back ....this is very normal in all 4WD and you should be with a brave heart to remove the stick.....hahahaha

No 4wd high range


checkunder the battery pan there is a bellows type of thing acid got on mine and ate the connection up i replaced this unit and 4wd worked by the way u only have 2wd low the transfer case has shifted the the trannie output to low range rear tires will spin not the front the cable that broke shifts a fork in the front pig 2 get the front wheeles engauged not a master tech it happened to me bout 4 years ago

4wd dash light will not come on when in 4wd and don't seem to get the traction in low range that I should but high range seems to work fine.


All lot of times, the electronics governing the 4wd system go out. this would cause the condition you speak of. Look around the transfer case for broken wires and corroded plugs, and follow them back through to the engine compartment. Next check your relays in the fuse box and relay center. I would try to exhaust all my efforts checking the electronics before i consider the mechanical end of the transfer case.
