Sounds like the key you are using is not programmed to the car HAVE YOU GOT THE ORIGINAL KEY?the passive anti theft system pats has found something ie key not compatiable with the car the key may fit and lock/unlock the car but the key transponder in the ignition lock will not regonise it thinks its being stolen the chip in the key is not programmed to that car

How do i fix a fail safe mode in a s type jaguar

great question, but engine failsafe or transmission?>
no year stated, and is very key to answers,
the PCM runs the engine, and if any sensor fails.
the PCM Sees that (called catastrophic monitors) and instead of
dying like a race car does (like this) the factory PCM is smarter than the average bear.
it MIMIC's the dead sensor from about 1985 to now. most cars, in USA. called OBD . "simulates it"
the ECu then logs ERRORS called DTCs ,you scan the PCM(or ECU) and it shows, say , dead CMP (crank sensor) "wild guess"

one example is a dead MAF, (or MAP) the simulation is very very crude, and engine will misfire and foul spark plugs with carbon.
this is very common, and worse prior to 1996 , in USA.

so the CEL lamp glow running, that means Scan ME.

Not starting is another matter,
good compression on all cylinders
good spark on all spark plugs, (not black tips (look)
good fueling, of the above 2 are good, all cars run with test fuel now for about 3 seconds, long each spray.

the fuel tank can be missing and i can keep the engine running for 5 minutes or longer, with my bottle of spray fuel.
proving , you have fueling problem
(low fuel pressure or too much)
ill not do fueling as that is 3 pages long "injector tests"

Lost keys 1993 Lexus 300sc have to move or get towed how can I start without key

You could start the car however your steering and shift lever would still be locked. Also Lexus has a fail safe system in the alarm tampering with the ignition could result in a lot of damage. The best thing is to have it towed. You can take your title and registration to a Toyota dealer and they can make you a new key

My 04 jaguar stype over heated yesterday, Now it won't start???

Yes, it could be the cylinder head gasket. That should probably be the first thing you should have checked. If it overheated bad enough, it can also warp the head necessitating machine shop work to true it up again.

Jeep stalls gauges don't work windows and locks and radio don't work

when you state it wouldn't crank, do you mean the starter won't engage or that it just spins over and doesn't start? if no gauges or no starter engagement, then check the battery, battery connections, and the starter for excessive amperage draw. if the starter spins and the engine won't start, then check crankshaft position sensor first. the crank sensor is a more common failure than the distributor or any of the other things you mentioned.

Can I tow a 1996 Grand Caravan on a tow dolly and do the wheels lock as sugested by the tow dolly co.?

The rear wheels on this car are free rolling. With the front wheels up on the tow dolly and secured with the straps provided you should have no problems. Follow the tow dolly instructions such as release the emergency brake, place selector in neutral, and don't drive over 45 mph. You will get to where your going safely. GOOD LUCK.

in that transmission shifter assembly, there should be a solenoid that is responsible for once the shifter is in park it releases the lock in the steering column. either its not hooked up or not adjusted properly.
