Just replaced the brakes on my 2002 gmc envoy the abs and brake lights are on. What could it be?

did you add brake fluid and did you check to see how the brake pedal feels when you apply the brakes with the car on? you will have to bleed the air out of the brake lines if the brake pedal goes to the floor when you apply the brakes.

Brakes went out

Have you checked the master cylinder for leaks and around the brake booster? You may have a bad brake light switch.

YOU NEED A TECH 1 SCANNER TO MOTOR REHOME FUNCTION PISTONS IN THE ABS BRAKE MODULATOR SHOULD BE RETURN TO THE UPPER MOST POSITION.BEFORE YOU CAN BLEED BRAKES.IF YOU DONT HAVE TECH 1 SCANNER SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT FRONT OF VECHICLE USING JACK STANDS. WITH FRONTS WHEELS OFF GROUND EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED WITH PUT VECHICLE IN DRIVE LET WHEELS SPIN AT 5 MILES PER HOUR THEN APPLY BRAKE PUT VECHICLE BACK IN PARK.TURN OFF CAR. THEN WAIT FEW MINUTES THEN START ENGINE AGAIN IF THE AMBER ABS LIGHT STILL FLASHES AND DONT TURN OFF HAVE VECHICLE TOWED IN LET DEALERSHIP PRESSURE BLEED AND USE THE TECH 1 SCANNER TO BLEED AND FIX YOU BRAKES FOR YOU.

Brake pedal often goes almost to floor-not spongy at all-doesn't seep if pressure constantly applied.

Hi,
Probably air in the brake system. Bleed your brakes thoroughly. Start with right rear, then left rear, then right front then left front. Maintain proper fluid level in master cylinder while bleeding. Brake pedal hieght comes from the rear brakes, as those are the longest brake lines in the system. Mike

Why does the parking break light stay on in my 97 Olds Cutlas Supreme. I have checked the level of the break fluid and it is full. I did have new break lines put in last year. I did have to slam on my...

Apply the parking brake with the vehicle parked, engine turned off and transmission in Park. Release the parking brake completely, then apply it again, and ensure that it is fully released. Turn the ignition on, check to see if the Parking brake warning light is on. If it is NOT on, apply the parking brake and check to see if the warning light comes on. If the light come ON wihen the Parking brake is applied,.....fully release the parking brake and check if the warning light goes OFF. If it does NOT go off, then an adjustment is needed at the parking brake switch.

You still have air in the system. You will have to bleed more. I had to bleed a quart of brake fluid out of each wheel to get good brakes on my 1996 GMC.

1998 Durango, replaced brake line that was rusted in two, (was long line under drivers side to rear) bled all four brakes, abs and brake light are now on and will not go off. Have read it could be rear...

Dear Brake Line....
I read your paragraph and if this brake light was never on previously to the brake line repair....then all it sounds like to me is that you have air enclosed in the braking system still. I would strongly advise that you bleed the braking system again....also bleed the master cylinder if you replaced a line of the master cylinder also...to make this easier on you your local auto parts store makes what they call one man bleeders that you can buy then install to bleed the system then remove and replace with regular brake bleeders.....just do a quick double check also to make sure that the line you replaced doesn't have any brake fluid leaking out also...any questions get back to me.....HOPE I COULD HELP!!!!

Brake pedal is high and firm but brakes don't stop you quickly wh

On the drum system one end of the brake shoe acts like a pivot. Have the drums turned for sure. Before you take the drums off, loosen the bleed valve, looks like a grease nipple on the back of the wheel assembly, while someone is depressing the brake pedal. If fluid comes out tight the valve before letting the brake up and do the same on the other side. Then do the fronts. If no fluid comes out then you have an air bubble in your brake line and you need to continue to bleed the lines until fluid comes out. If fluid does come out and no air then you need to replace the master cylinder.
