SOURCE: i have a 96 mustang gt with a auto trans it

Old fluid and filter, maybe the modulator. Could need tranny service but changing the fluid is cheapest route to start with.

SOURCE: 96 mustang overdrive lights flashing

My 1996 Ford Mustang OD off flash blinked one time and then went off and didn't come back on. I cut off the car and started it up again but the light stayed off. Ford put a Oxygen sensor and a Transmission sensor in two weeks ago. There's no Engine light on just doesn't like how it's driving. It's hesitating to pick up speed. After I hit over 30 miles the problem goes away. Could you please tell me why this is happening, thanks.

I recently gave to my 73 mustang mach one automatic ****** service that includes changing the oil and filter, the ****** was previously working ok, but now the trans wont change from first to seco

I don't think it's in your linkage. It sounds like you may have a cracked or disconnected vacuum line leading to your vacuum modulator. Or you may have a fauly modulator. Check for leaks first...At the back of the motor on the passenger side there should be a small (in diameter) vacuum line comming from the carburetor to a metal line leading down and back toward the rear of the car. Then at the back of the trans there should be a small vacuum line leading toward the front of the car to a small metal line. If one or both of those vac lines are loose os broken thats most likley your problem. If not it's more likley the modulator.

Have a 96 mustang gt with the 4.6 in it. The engine has 151,000 miles top end has been rebuilt, but heres the problem it smokes at idle. When the engine idles for 2 mins to 5 min it smokes. The color is...

sounds like valve seals, not an easy fix on the ohc motor. If the trans is an A L4d make sure the modulator is not leaking fluid into the vacuum line.

Did you flush out the injector lines? Bad injectors are known to act this way. Check fuel pressure regulator for proper operation.

you may want to check the fluid level after putting that conditioner in, and also make sure the conditioner wasn't the type that you are only suppose to run for 30miles or so. When checking your auto trans fluid, make sure the vehicle is at an idle, and sitting steady. Take the stick out, wipe it, and check again. If you have too much fluid in it, the trans will jump from the lack of friction, and build up of pressure. I am not sure of your particular model, but you may have a drain plug on the trans. And another note, if your trans is too low, the same thing goes into effect.
