Usually the tail lites get voltage from headlamp switch. The ground wire is important as well as voltage. Also, there may be a fuse involved, check your fuse box or owners manual.
I need year--make--model to go further?

Trailer Lights, I have a polarity problem. The LED tail lights on my trailer only work if I reverse the plug-in, any idea on how to fix this polarity problem.

Possibly the person that borrowed your trailer changed some of the wires. Old-type bulbs don't care about polarity, but LEDs do.

Tail lights and dash lights do not work

If you have an external brake controller on the truck maybe you need to check and see if the wire hooking into your headlight wires doesn't have a fuse in it. If not I have no idea.

Hi,
Looks like the park light harness got a short circuit.
Check the wire harness leading to the tail light. One of the power wire( usually red wire ) is stripped off the rubber insulation and touches the metal body ground. Check also the tail light connection and bulbs base contact points..
When you found the wire insulate it by using any plastic electrical tape.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

Got a 91 lexcen had tail light wiring do now no fuel pump working just wonderin if any idea how wiring has been crossed. Any reference info would be great thank you.

It sounds like you may have a mixup with your grounds, which is terribly common with tail lights. I would suggest that you check that your fuel tank is grounded. Does the fuel gauge work? If the gauge is not working since you repaired the tail light wiring, the chances are that you have accidently hooked up the ground for the tail lights to your fuel tank wiring. You can check with a meter to make sure there is continuity between your fuel tank and ground.

Both tail lights and the licence plate lights are out. I have checked EVERY fuse twice. Hears through the grapevine that these trucks have a tail light circut board... Really? Where is it then? Anyone have...

I believe they had a tail light circut card on trucks and suv 's at rear of vehicle on frame joist near rear bumper it is where left/right and truck harness come together and if memory serves me it is a brown wire which feeds tail lights and of course a black ground wire, if it is a truck/suv you may also see a large (10ga) white wire as a ground used for a trailer connector.

Tail light problems

Probably because it blows immediately because the short is now a dead short. The hot wire is completely against the ground not just rubbing. Has the car been hit in the back at any time? Look underneath and see if any wires are hanging down.around the tail light area. Your looking for a wire that is rubbing against metal . Could be inside the trunk behind the covers .
