At high rpm steering growles when turning. Also at highway speed I have to constantly turn wheel to keep tractor centered in road

Have the front suspension and steering checked. Sounds like you may need a gear box or pump, sway bar links or bushings. Could be bearings ball joints. It just needs checked out.

I have a 1988 suzuki samurai with 33×12.50 tires. 1st 2nd 3rd gear are ok. 4th and 5th gear has no power. Witch ring and pinion gear should I go with? 4.57 or 5.38 to get my power back. Thanks.

4.57 will give you a higher top speed while the 5.38 will give you more pulling power but at a lower top speed
personally I consider the problem else where as the first gears are reduction gears while 4th is straight connection of the input and out shafts ( no gear as such) and 5th is an over drive gear
I suspect air / fuel mixture for higher torque settings, problem with fuel supply, venting, exhaust blockage, timing are more valid concerns than a diff ration problem

High cruising rpm

mike cruises at 90 mpy (Dallas new speed limit 85 on one road)
larry at 75
me 45. so>>>
but doing it backwards works way better
what is speed at 3000 RPM , a common speed.
answer in my 96 goes 59 mph. in 5th gear.

the rpm is a function of what tranny and tire size.
here are all listed
The G16 is no V8 it spins fast and last 300k miles. if serviced.
see this table for 3000 rpm speeds.
there are 5 speeds possible in top gear.
what transmission tell you which it is , there are 3 trans. and 2 engines. each are Unique.

chart one is stock. tires.
chart 2 is big tires.
the equation is there so you can do yours, from any RPM you want.

I have a zafira club 1.6 which seems to have no 5th gear. I can enter 5th whilst driving without the clutch. Any ideas please.

because of the close gear ratios and the synchronisation action ,it is possible to change gears without the clutch if the engine rpm's and road speed are close matched. If you put it in 5th gear and the engine rpm's increase without an increase in road speed (gear does not engage) then it is possible that the gear on the out put shaft is stripped. This is a common problem in vehicles where 5th gear is engaged and the vehicle load and speed is excessive inducing excessive wear on the teeth of the gear causing them to fail

This may apply. ...............................

Carry out the adaptation drive cycle road test:

Note: This process must be carried out in normal mode (not sports mode). On a flat road, the transmission fluid temperature must be above 60° C (140° f) and below 100° C (212° f) (vehicle at normal operating temperature will ensure that the transmission fluid temperature is above 60° C (140° f)).
9. Accelerate from rest with light throttle (do not exceed the upper rev limit in appendix 1). 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 shifts must occur with engine speed between the following limits:.
Note: Do not move the accelerator pedal during shifts.

• 3.0L VIN ALL 1800 - 2000 rpm
• 4.2L N/A Prior VIN M96321 1450 - 1600 rpm
• 4.2L N/A From VIN M963221550 - 1700 rpm

10. Continue to accelerate gently to 50 mph (80 km/h) so that transmission shifts into 5th gear.
11. Go into overrun and let the transmission shift down into 4th gear without braking.
12. Brake gently to a standstill and hold footbrake on for at least 15 seconds.
13. This process should be carried out at least five times.

You have the wrong lever try mesure the shifter assemblies if they are not the same then find a different shifter also replace the spring that shoves the stick back up.

Bearing Noise in front diff

Most likely your hub assembly (wheel bearing) is going bad on it. It's a very simple replacement. Take to cotter pin out and remove the "cage" from around the large nut in the middle of the hub assembly. Remove the brake caliper and the rotor will come right off. On the back of the spindle you'll find 3 13mm 12 point bolt heads. Remove the 3 bolts and lightly give the hub assembly a few taps and the hub assembly will come right out. Install in reverse.
