If it is the same model transmission it will bolt and hook up if different unit or switching from manual to auto or visa versa will be doing fab work

94 firebird high idle when u rev motor it backfires and taps a little bit

If you recently disconnected the battery, your computer will take some time in restarting all of it's original settings.
If this isn't the issue, then you will want to make sure it is not throwing any codes. Take it to any retail automotive parts store and get it checked for free. It's possible that one of your cylinders is misfiring, which would cause it to be high and rough at an idle.

My 94 Firebird wont come out of Park even when break pressure is applied

I had this happen last night. If you apply pressure downwards on the shift handle, press the brake, then the shift button it should go right down. After a while, they tend to ride up and it doesn't allow the button to release the lock so you can pull down to shift it out of park. That's one possibility!

94 firebird hard to start

the 3.4liter engine has a bad habit of going through headgaskets you may want to do a compression check on it and see if you have a bad gasket. most of them that i see with this have about 120k on them when they go bad
