Sometimes they use a T-50 torx bit, and sometimes they use either a 15mm or 18mm bolt, however the caliper bracket is a 21mm bolt

SOURCE: how take off pins not bolts on caliper 87 Ford Ranger front brake

The pins / wedges just tap out use a scewdriver on the metal edge of the pin just tap it out to the rear and when putting them back in just tap them back in from the front. You will see they are diamond shape and metal cased around rubber very easy to do just take your time.

After removing the wheel you have to take two bolts out of the back of the caliper and use a screwdriver to pry the caliper one way or another to get enough slack to pull the caliper off of the rotor then remove the old pads and take a large C- clamp and slowly press the cylinder back in the caliper once back put new pads in the caliper and place it back on the rotor put bolts back in the caliper and pump a few times to make sure theirs no air in the lines.

In replacing front brake pads, do I first loosen or remove the two bolts that hold the caliper itself, should I have brake fluid resv cap off? Robert

You'll want to remove the two bolts that hold on the caliper. Remove the caliper and brake pads. You'll need to collapse the caliper piston back into the caliper to get the caliper on with the new brake pads. You can use a C-clamp, or a caliper piston tool to push it back in. I would remove the reservoir cap when you collapse the piston into the caliper.

Trying to replace a front wheel bearing on a 1994 saturn sl.. How do remove the rotor on the car?

you have to remove the brake caliper first... should have 2 bolts; metric size; dont let caliper hang by the brake line; hang it up out of the way; if the rotor doesnt slide off the hub, then it is corroded on; take a soft-faced mallet and tap firmly ; try not to damage the area the brake pads contact the rotor

Rotors on 1999 saturn sl 2 are bad and i want to replace them

loosen the lugs. lift the car and support it safely. take the tires off the front of the car. through the caliper is an allen head bolt. the head of the bolt faces inside the wheel well. you will have to put your head inside the wheel well to see where to put the allen wrench. the size of the allen wrench should be 3/8. loosen the bolt and slide the caliper and brakes off of the rotor. Support the caliper with wire or string. do not let the caliper hang by the soft rubber brake hose. the caliper is the only thing that holds the rotor in place. the rotor should now slide right off the lugnuts. Check the brake pads they need to be replaced also. If the pads spent any kind of time against bad rotors they are garbage. When it is time to put the new brake pads on the saturn open the master cylinder so the brake fluid can return to the reservoir when you compress the calipers back to their resting position. In order to compress the calipers you will probably need a large C clamp. Reassemble the brakes. Remember to check the level of brake fluid and close the master cylinder. Before driving the car be sure to pump the brakes to assure you have proper feel and to make sure everything is in order.

Brake replacement

take the brake caliper off, this is the part that holds and moves the brake pads thare will be 2 bolts holding it on ,one on top one on bottom. after taking bolts loose you may half to pry the caliper up and off brake rotor. once this is done remove old pads and use a brake caliper piston retraction tool to push the piston back into the caliper. you can get this tool at your local parts store or use a C clamp with one of the old brake pads to push it back.install new brake pads and install caliper .after completion make sure you pump the brakes till you get a good pedal before moving vehicle

Changing brakes and rotors

Remove te cross pins that hold the caliper and the brake pads in place, then remove the caliper bracket, there are 2 bolts at the backside, then the rotro just slides off, clean any rust on the rotor mount area while the rotor is off, then using a large clamp depress the piston in the brake caliper and reinstall in reverse order, one word of caution, use quality replacement parts, Wagner is very good, if you don't use good parts you will end up with poor brake performance.
