SOURCE: 96 honda civic ex runs hot

It is either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Depending on which motor your civic has, this could be a tricky replacement, either way, you have to remove the head off of the motor, and then take the head to have it pressure checked to see if there is a crack in it. Nine times out of ten though, you can see a crack in the head with your eye, but you have to have the right "eye" to be able to see the crack.

SOURCE: overheating jeep cherokee 1991

sounds like you have a airlock or air in the system. i had the same problem. there is two hoses that run along the value cover. undo the top one and plug it with a screw driver or something. then the other hose the one that runs to your water pump you need to install a T on it that you can attach a garden hose too. turn the hose on full blast. the water should come shooting on the engine where you disconnecting the hose. let the hose run for about 15mins or so. i jumped on the bumber a bit to shake the jeep. just to make sure all the air comes out. the point of this is that this is the highest point on the engine. so the water should force any air out. jeeps are bad for this any air in the system really messes things up. the transmission thing has nothing to do with this. good luck

What makes a 04 envoy run hot and lose oil?

A hot running engine is usually caused by a cooling system problem. Make sure the coolant level is full and the thermostat.. rad fan.. radiator cap and water pump are all functioning correctly. Make sure there are no restrictions in front of the radiator to obstruct air flow and coolant circulates properly throughout the radiator. As for losing oil, check for the obvious..... Leaks. If no major leaks and you have a high mileage engine, suspect the oil to be burning within the engine. A constantly hot running engine can also cause the oil to break down quicker resulting in consumption, especially if oil changes are neglected

Changed out the thermostats and waterpump on my 05 lincoln ls v8 car is still running hot any suggestions

I hope you replace the thermostats with new units and put then in the right way round. (body of the unit in the water in the head). If it is overheating while at lights and you have a viscous fan hub then replace the hub. have a coolant pressure test done to check for leaks . Have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracks. Ensure that you fill the radiator to the cap and run until all air is expelled from the coolant system

My truck keeps over heating and i was wondering if there is a thermostat on a 91 4x4 pick up v6 and if not what could be the problem

yes, there is a thermostat. That's a good place to start.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5929960-s_thermostat . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me.

What causes a 96 honda accord to run hot if the thermostat is brand new? would kit be the waterpump?

Check for a small leak in your radiator. Mine was leaking on top near the cap. Had a small crack which caused my temp to run hot.

Changed entire cooling system and still overheats

The overheat sounds like an air pocket in the cooling system there are two bleeder screws located on top of thermostate hosing and 1 on the metal pipe just above the water pump I believe they are 7mm. with the radiator cap off and the car running slowly open 1 bleeder at a time just crack it loose until you get a steady stream of coolant make sure to keep the level in the radiator up. be carefull coolant may be hot! when you take the oil cap off you are creating a big vacuum leak thru the PCV (positive crankcase ventalation) system this is normal for this car to surge or die.

1998 Buick Skylark is over heating

You need to check the radiator cap for air leaks and also try having the radiator Flushed as you could have plugged fins inside the radiator, causing the radiator not to cool the antifreeze.
