Try using the key not the fob to lock and unlock the drivers door.

Try locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key. You may have to do that more than once.

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

Service anti theft

If the security light is on or blinking, the chip in the key may have failed, or the sensor in the lock cylinder.

I have a 2006 pontiac montana and a starting disabled light comes on and the vehicle shuts of when its running , and sometimes it doesnt start on the first try

Most likely the PassKey circuit is going bad. Something to try is to connect a 10 amp battery charger to vehicle and leaving the key in the on position for 10 minutes. at the end of that, turn key off. You are supposed to do this procedure 3 time to relearn the security system. At the end, turn key off, then try to start it. Sometimes it works. Its worth a try. Otherwise you will have to replace it.

Have a pontiac montana, but lately when I press ths remote start button, the alarm goes off. Door locks work fine.

If its an aftermaket installation, do yourself a favor and have it removed. I have seen them disable a vehicle where they won't start. Sound like the controller is malfunctioning.

2005 Pontiac SV6 Montana key fob unlocks doors but will not lock

For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.
