I have a 1993 mercury' marquis. The floor boads of the front part of the car get hot. And the thermostat keeps falling to c and rising to half way and falling on gage. Can u please help?! Thanks

possible no water in the engine and it is overheating
this is indicated by the temp gauge rising and falling
temp gauge sender units need to be immersed in water full time to get a reading so if it goes up that is in water and when it falls back that is in nothing or steam
hot engine would account for hot floor

2000 outback temp rises than falls rises falls blows reserve cap off

Chances are good that you have a blown head gasket. This is a very typical problem with Subaru's with over about 120,000 miles. There is a slight possibility that your radiator is plugged.

Why, after hitting a bump in the highway and braking at the same time, did my brakes fail - how can I fix this dangerous situation - my mechanic is baffled?

has your vehicle got ABS braking system ? if so i'd get the OBD codes read if not already done as may be a sensor/switch that is sending an incorrect signal to the brake system after the bump at the same time , there is sometimes a brake limiter valve fitted to the rear suspension ,if your vehicle has this component i'd have that checked as the suspension will obviously rise/fall when going over bumps , let me know how your mechanic responds to these suggestions

My car has skiping noise in the automatic transmission system

Does it sound at the same rate as wheel speed? ie. As speed rises does noise frequency rise in which case get the drive line checked.
Does it rise and fall with revs in which case check the trans.

Pressure in the AC keeps rising and falling.

was the pressure gauge connected to the discharge side or the suction side of the compressor
if you have it connected to the suction side , you have excessive gas in the system

Idle rising and falling

Check for a vacumm leak from the air filter over to the intake of the engine, although I don't even know what kind of car you have make model and year would be helpful

My idle rises and falls in a steady pattern in my 1990 Geo tracker

Hi Connor,
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere and the pcm (power-train control module) is trying to compensate, you may also hear a hissing noise when the idle fluctuates, that would be a vacuum leak. If your check engine light is on, have the code pulled and it may point you in the right direction.

I have a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee and occasionally the oil gauge falls then rises even though there is plenty of oil in the crankcase. what's going on??

could be a poor connection at the pressure sending unit or a partially obstructed oil pump pickup screen. If internal, often adding marvel oil will help dissolve any carbon or sludge and help with that. Also check the connection at the sender. Can also be the sender itself going bad. Pressure will normally rise and fall with engine rpm but should remain steady if rpms do not change.

MY HOT AND COLD METER KEEPS RISING AND FALLING

If the fans are electric, then replace the fan control module.
If the fan is belt driven, replace the fan clutch.

There is a chance that the thermostat is failing, but if the temperature fluctyation occurs during driving, as opposed to stopped and idling, then it's probably the fans.
