You can jack up front of car and turn steering all the way to one side then all the way to the other or simply turn the steering wheel all the way side to side do this a few times then check fluid level fill if needed then do it again till air all gone

On these vehicles is a problem getting the air out, doing the basic way does not work, the Ford-Mercury Dealer uses a special pump to get air out,a regular mechanic will not get the air out, must go to Ford-Mercury dealer to have properly done, first call them and see what they say.Your pump is making a whinny noise from air been trapped in the lines.

Where are located cooler line for the transmission 1997 mercury sable

Tranny cooler lines usually are about 1/2" outside diameter steel or reinforced rubber going to a separate chamber in radiator side or bottom. Always one in and one line out separated by about 10 inches apart. You can follow those lines back to the tranny.

don't know what the silver box is, but its probably the transmission cooler line going from tranny to radiator. should be 2 silver lines coming from radiator. follow them

Locate the flywheel, and just to the right of it is the water pump - (connected to the bottom radiator hose).
If you reply with engine size - i can give you procedure to change it.

The blend door that regulates the airflow over the heater core may be stuck in the AC position. It is inside the case and is most difficult to get to. There may be a YouTube video that may help you locate it and test it.
