Just bought this car ......
1988 dodge daytona shelby 2.2L 4 cyl. ( inter cooled ) turbo with a 5 speed manual trans.
As soon as the engine gets to 4 grand it just stops running !
Will restart again ok, then runs fine till it reaches 4 grand again the
the same thing .........
Now somewhere back along the line some person has installed an after market 2 way toggle switch into the computer marked ( standard performance ) and ( high performance). ??? The brand name on this after market part is a ( MAX Engineering Multi-cal ) ???
And as i know nothing about this sort of thing I sure would appreciate any HELP that i could get with this problem.

Well, I can tell you that your computer has been flashed or replaced with a flashed unit. That switch switches between maps and would be my first suspect. I suggest you get another stock computer. You can find them cheap at a junk yard or at one of a couple online message boards like turbododge.com or turbomopar.com.
