Is this a lawn mover?
I tired to look at your starter motor, it appeared to show only one terminal. Should not be hot with key in the run position. The starter driver gear isn't hung-up?
So there is a separate solenoid/relay? Did you wire it back the same way? It would have to receive signal from ignition switch crank position. I don't have a wiring diagram for this.

86 Chevy Suburban not starting.

Is the starter actually turning the engine over (engaging), or is it just whirring rapidly? If it is not engaging, then the vehicle certainly will not start. If it is not engaging, there is most likely a shimming issue to be addressed to get the starter to engage. If it is engaging, check carefully the large nut in the starter solenoid. There are usually more than one wire attached to this nut. Ensure that you have not missed replacing any of the wires that came off the starter studs. Some feed back to the fuse paqnel and can be critical for operation.

Brand new starter was installed in my 2003 nissan altima but when i try to start it sounds like its grindinding the sound is similisr to when you already have the car running and you try to start it...

you could have a bad flywheel, missing teeth, was that checked when the starter was out ? if not, your going to have to check it now, also , check the teeth on the starter and have it bench checked to see if it engages properly, Its not unusual for a rebuilt to have faults

Car running starter sill stays engaged blew fuse for the side veiw mirrors and reverse lamp and problem stopped, is there maybe a relay that controls the mirrors ? or reverse lights that may be sticky and...

The problem in the starter would be the relay for the solenoid or the ignition switch that might have been stuck in the "ign" postion.

The side view mirror fuse blows might have been a faulty electrical connection on the wires leading to the side view mirror.

The reverse light, if the bulb is busted, needs only to replace. If there is a new bulb, still does not work, the reverse switch on the transmission might be broken or disconnected.

As you could see, they have connected differently.

Hope that helps you out!

Starter motor on 1992 Ford Fairmont V8 stays engaged for a few minutes after startup. Even when you turn key off you can hear it turning over. Does starter need reconditioning? How do I remove it?

The stater solenoid has probably failed. That will require replacement of the starter. To prove that the problem is the solenoid NOTE the position of the 2 small wires on the solenoid. The next time the starter stays stuck engaged remove the small wires. If it continues to run then the stater has failed due to a stuck solenoid. If it stops turning after you disconnect the 2 small wires, you may have a bad ignition switch or a system short to another +12VDC wire some where inside the vehicle.

To remove the starter you disconnect BOTH Battery leads at the battery. Then you remove the large POSITIVE cable from the solenoiod and the 2 wires. After that you remove the 2 mounting bolts for the starter and pull it out.

It is OK to replace the starter with a rebuilt starter.

To install the replacement starter install the large mounting bolts. Connect the POSITIVE lead to the solenoid. Connect the 2 small wires in the original positions then reconnect the Battery. Positive lead first then the Negative lead.

Test starter... if nothing happens you probably got the 2 smaller wires reversed on the solenoid. If it woks.. Job well done!

Autozone or Napa usually have a starter for your vehicle in stock.

F 150 starts and starter stays engaged unplug alternator starts ok but no charge

2 problems, first you have bad starter or starter relay for starter staying engaged, keep alt plugged in has nothing to do with starter staying engauged, to test starter relay, jump at relay bat + post with red/bk wire on solonoid, if cranks over without staying engaged, then not relay or starter but rather in your ign switch, ford had bad problems with ign switch some years ago doing that

Engine wont turn ovwer

Check battery terminals are clean and firmly connected.

Check the transmission neutral interlock switch operation is OK.
Check +12V is appearing on the starter solenoid control wire when the ignition switch is held in the 'start' position.

If above ok, apply +12v directly to the starter solenoid activation control -starter should immediately engage.
If it doesn't run, you likely have a faulty starter motor.
