Re: 2008 Chevy HHR warning on Dash says "SERVICE ESC"
When you figure it out let me know! I drive an HHR as a service vehicle it does the same thing with an activation of the brakes in the front to "correct" a problem that is not there. About a year ago it had an engine code that indicated the intake valve timing solenoid was not working correctly, I got a new one from NAPA and replaced it. For whatever reason (I have found no connection between the two systems) the "Service ESC" problem has nearly disappeared. The message and associated front end shutter would occur 3 or 4 times a month but since replacing the solenoid it has only occurred 1 or 2 times.

There is a service bulletin on the 08 Sorrentos about it. It's indicating an issue with your electronic stability control which is tied into your ABS. First be sure someone hasn't accidentally turned it off (if equipped with a button, most likely bottom side of dash under steering wheel or on/near gearshift), and if that's not the issue take it to a mechanic/dealership.
Where did you see this ? driver message center ?
Emission Control System or was ESC
Electronic Suspension Control
No matter which it is you should have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes DTC Database OBD II Trouble Codes
Electronic Stability Control (or ESC) is a system found on several recent vehicles that will help you stay in control of your vehicle when you need to swerve or brake suddenly to avoid an obstacle.Dec 10, 2013
esc usually means electronic spark control. But I didn't know there was a warning light for that. There is usually a bulb like solenoid on the side of the engine block. This retards timing in case of spark knock.
esc is short for electronic stability control. as far as i can understand, it is a system that will transfer power to the other three wheels if one becomes "jammed" or disabled (kia's own word, not mine).
this light coming on and staying on appears to be a fairly common problem, sometimes with loss of power and other system warning lights. if this is the case, it should bbe taken for a computer diagnostic test to find where the problem lies. there have been service bulletins from kia regarding some issues with this light so it may be worth contacting them for more specific information.
This is the light that tells you that the Electronic Stability Control or ESC has been disabled. There should be a button in you vehicle that has a car and or some tire markings on it or it may just read ESC, and pressing it will turn it back on.
Hello and welcome. the engine reduce power waraning is the key to the other problems. this is normally a problem with the electronic throttle system. the engine control module disables the traction control system when it detects a engine problem, in your case a problem with the electronic throttle system. you shouldnt drive with this concern. this is normally covered under the vehicles 100,000 mile warranty. you need to conteact your nearest dealer for help
