There is a flexible pipe that joins the filler to the tube on the tank. Yours has split, or the clamps have broken.

yes as long as you don't have a leak underneath at rest. The problem is only when you fill the car at the pumps as you are losing some from the filling process. Imagine a metal pipe behind the filler cap, then a PVC pipe that looks like your radiator hose and then a metal tube sticking up from the tank. There is a clamp at each end of the PVC pipe, and the tube itself can split over time. You may be able to see it under the wheel arch.

Be sure you have inspected the gas tank for any small leaks...the smell and drip will vary by the tanks fill level...Hope this helps.

sir it a weak fuel pump when the load of filled up fuel tank helps to increase amount of liquid pressure(witch is fuel )
so the fuel pump must be replaced before you find yourself stocked

Ford Focus Deisel chokes on acceleration

Hi mate.

This sounds like a fuel problem.

Some one may have have filled up with petrol. If so you will have to drain the feul tank and change your feul filter.

If only diesel has been put into the tank then carry on as follows until you solve the problem.

Change your fuel filter and air cleaner for a start.

Check your timing.

If you still have the problem, then have your injectors cleaned and reset.

If the problem is still there then you will have to have the fuel pump reconditioned.

You can also check your leak off pipes between the injectors to see if they are in good condition.

I trust this will help you.

L have an escort mk6,l have a full tank of petrol, today l notice there is a smell of petrol by the tank

In most cases like this, the petrol tank was over-filled (petrol was "nursed in" and saturated the fuel vapour charcoal canister. It may take some time for the canister to dry enough and rid the apparent fuel vapour smell. If not, you may want to consider changing the charcoal canister.

You also may want to check for leaks or loose fittings from the filler nozzle to the tank as well.

I hope this helps! :)

Where is the radiator cap on 2003 Ford Focus ZTW

I do not believe that there is a radiator cap on the Focus. I believe that the coolant is filled from the what most would consider the overflow tank. It is an overflow tank of sorts but serves also to fill the radiator.

Faulty petrol gauge

I had same problem with petrol gauge bouncing around all over the place, full tank, half a tank and nearly empty in the space of 10 miles.

I knew that if I filled the tank I would get approx 200 miles for half a tank so I did that for a while and just kept topping up. Audi testing it and the fuel sensors in the tank had to be replaced. I'm afraid its the only permanent solution!
