Question about 1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Low fuel light indicator

Low fuel light does not come on, radio lights do not come on but radio works. Do these items operate off of fuses? I have checked the fuse boxes and only found one bad (for the heater). How do I fix this? I bought the car used and it came with no owner's manual.

Thank you!

    Guru,

I have checked all the fuses and only found the bad heater fuse. I did not see a fuse for the low fuel indicator though on the fuse box descriptions panel. If it needs the bulb replaced; how in the heck do I get to that?

I own a luxury edition 97 miata MX-5 and it has no fuel light or lights on the stock radio. Make sure your car is new enough to even have those features.

Try checking for other fuses, replace them with the same ampacity. With the radio, radio and light are on the same fuse i believe the lights for the radio are bad. If fuses are okay maybe the light bulb for the low fuel indicator has blown the light bulb can be replaced.

Patience is the mother of invention. Sometimes where the speedometer gauge, the rpm gauge fuel gauge that hold panel it is hold by 4 or 6 screws hold panel comes out, don't take all the way out remember wires are holding this. Don't disconnect anything just look behind it. just see where the bulb for the low fuel level is turn a 1/4 turn and lamp holder comes out take out the light put new one

The fuel guage indicator on my mazda mx5 reads full even though the tank is about half full, consequently I am not sure exactly how much fuel I have. If the tank is getting low will the "nearly empty" light still operate. In other words are the fuel gauge indicator and "empty" light wired separately?

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The ambient light sensor is a light sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the body control module (BCM) in response to changes to the outside (ambient) light level. When the BCM receives this signal it will either turn on the daytime running lights (DRL) or the headlights. Any function or condition that turns on the headlights will cancel the daytime running lamps operation. With the headlight switch in the OFF position, the headlights will either be turned ON or OFF, after an approximate 30 second delay depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The HTR A/C IGN fuse in the underhood junction block supplies ignition positive voltage to the daytime running lamp (DRL) relay coil circuit. The DRL relay switch contacts are connected to the low beam circuit. When the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position, the BCM will either turn on or off the daytime running lamps, depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The BCM energizes the DRL relay, closing the switch contacts and grounding the low beam circuit. Ground is provided at G101. The DRL illuminate the low beam headlights at a reduced intensity. The DRL will operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the gear selector is not in the PARK position and the parking brake is released. When these conditions have been met and the ambient light sensor indicates daytime conditions, the DRL will illuminate.
DRL operation in Manual Transmission equipped vehicles will occur when the ignition switch is in the ON position, and the parking brake is released. - check fuse's an relay first.
Door Lock System Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Driver door lock switch

?€¢
Front Passenger door lock switch

?€¢
Body Control Module (BCM)

?€¢
Relays: Driver Door Unlock--if equipped, Door Unlock, and Door Lock

?€¢
Door Lock fuse 15A

Left operating headlight not working

the switch supplies power to the relays that switch on the lights according to the position you have it at
so on high beam there will be 2 high beam lights working
on low beam there will be 2 low beam lights working
back to passing lights or flashing head lights , both beams will work so the switch is the last item to consider
Now with only one side beam not working it comes back to the ground on that light for that bulb
remember that electricity follows the path of least resistance so it the ground is bad the current will ground out through another point including a light which will switch that light off or make it not work
remember the brakes light that flask when an indicator is used --same thing

Gas gauge and temp gauge and heater/ac fan dont work

Sounds like a fuse or an earth wire loose in the cabin. Take the fuses out and chk them in the light. Go thru all earth wires both in and outside the cabin, something is loose if not a fuse, remember fuses in the engine bay. cheers

Chrysler Voyager 2003 battery went dead now radio won't even turn on, clock doesn't work

i assume you put a new battery in,van runs but no radio or clock, check all your fuses first, and also make sure that radio doesnt have anti theft system, if it does then read your manualy on how to enter the code,if it needs a code then it wont work until code is entered, careful if you do the code entering wrong three times then radio shuts down for one hour, then you would need to have the key on or van running for one hour straight,

I have 1993 Suzuki Sidekick 4Drs 1.6L. Recently I replaced a new battery but my door locks and radio do not work. What could be the problem? and how to solve? Please aadvice Thanks Raj NY

Did the locks and radio work before you replaced the battery? If they did ,it is possible to have blown the fuse that operates these items. Check all the fuses with a test light. Place the test light on both sides of the fuse to make sure it lights on both ends ,if you find one that lights on one side but not the other, have it replaced and recheck the operation of the locks and radio. Hope this helps. Moe
