As long as you see it then there should be a couple of bolts and the cable on the terminal and that's all there is to it. Just make sure it's seated right.

Yep it is on the lower right side two bolts hold it to trans but the starter may not be bad the wire corrodes apart at the starter you can strip back the wire and install a new end

1996 ECONOLINE is there...!

I always recommend getting the FACTORY REPAIR MANUALS

Lost the manual, and need to find the fuse for the horn

Hi,

For some strange reason Ford only supports the Econoline owner's manual back to 1996. If you think that the 1996 manual will help you, click on this link Ford Econoline/Club Wagon Owner's Manual

Sorry that I couldn't do better but perhaps some other guru will be of assistance.

All the best

Ben

I recently replaced my starter on my 1996 Ford E150 Econoline. I am not sure if I wired it wrong, now when I start the van it makes a loud noise, like something is hitting something else. I move the wire...

sounds like your starter gear may be hitting the flexiplate but that should not effect the trans.
There may be a safety lock on your gearshift under the console that is faulty, it should disengage when the ignition key is turned on, my brother in law had this problem with his new car, I removed it all together as it was more trouble than it was worth

Fuse box diagram, I need to find the starter relay

The starter relay is under the hood near the battery. The positive cable bolt to it and the starter cable bolts to the other larger post. Most parts stores call it a starter solenoid[technically it is] but the actual solenoid bolts to the starter.

1999 Ford Econoline starter problem

Hi, Make sure all your battery cables are clean and tight. Ford use 2 solenoids on those vehicles, 1 monted on the starter and the other one on the top left or right fender. (standard old ford starter solenoid)
