Sounds like a fuel pump issue catalytic converters always act up fuel pumps can be intermittant

If you are worried that your cat is the problem and it may very well be, drop engine pipe down enough maybe half an inch from exh manifold see if that fixes problem .the best way is to use a scanner and monitor o-2 oxygen sensor it will show if it is at fault .regards agwbk
