Question about 2005 Dodge Stratus

Car chugs between 5-25 mph

I bought a 2005 Dodge Stratus in January and have not had any promblems since yesterday. I change my oil faithfully and use only high octane fuel. Last night while driving I stopped at a stop light then continued on green when the car started chugging then came to stop. I restarted the car but could not drive past 20 mph without chugging, I stopped in a parking lot and let the car sit for 20 minutes and then drove home with no problems. This morning when I went to work I got there with no problems, then coming home I got on the ramp for the freeway and I started to chug yet again. I drove home and only had problems when I had to excel from being stopped, then I would chug let my foot off the gas and just glide then excel very slowly up to the speed limit. Can anyone give me ideas to tell the car mechanic/dealer when I take it in....since I am a lady I don't want them to think they can take advantage of my oh so little knowledge of cars.

The tempature reads normal (half way between hot and cold). There is no particular time or distance travelled it happens anytime I stop.

    Thank you.

Is there a particular time or distance travelled before fault occurs?how is the temperature on the gauge at the time of fault?this info and what you have described is invaluable to a technician.may be related to airflow sensor/metering.temperature or map sensor etc,or maybe as simple as the sparkplugs are worn and need replacing, air filter clogged etc.would be good for them to check basics and perhaps check for fault code logging on ecu.just remember that just because a sensor code is logged,it doesnt necessarily mean that it is faulty, but possibly caused by another factor

It is difficult to say for sure without personally driving the car. However it sounds like your catalitic converter could be pluged. Drive the car unitll you have trouble. If you have a temp gauge see if it is reading hot. If no temp gauge drive the car at night. when it acts up look under the hood and see if the exhaust manifold is glowing red. Also look under the car for any part of the exhaust pipes to be glowing. If the exhaust system is pluged badly it will make a hissing sound when the engine is reved up. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Car promblem

Sounds like your oil ran low and the pistons and rods are runnig without oil. This will seize the engine check your oil if it is real low put some oil in it and try to start it. If it starts you got lucky. Tahn find out how you lost all your oil before runnig it to much. If the engine doen't turn over than your motor is no good.

Plugs should be changed every 30K, and wires every 60K. Sounds like you are way overdue for both. Start there, and if it still does it, I would suspect that the cam sensor is going bad. Make sure you get the Champion plugs it calls for, and premium wires, or the factory wires.
