1996 chevy blazer a/c wont blow cold air

Just bought a 96 blazer from a friend. when i turned the a/c on it would blow warm air but no cold air. i checked under the hood and the wheel on the front of the a/c compresser would spin for a couple seconds and then stop and then start again a few seconds later and then stop after a couple seconds and it kept doing this. he said the a/c works it just needed to be charged so i bought a can of 134a. when i took the cap off the accumulator tank to charge it a piece of plastic got wedged against the tongue and drained everything out of the tank. i filled the tank with the can i bought. now when i turn on the a/c it still blows warm air but no cold air like before. however the wheel on the front of the compresser does not spin anymore. anyone know what the problem might be?

You need about two or three mor little cans of freon. If you dont have enough in the system the compressor clutch will not engage( turn ) of course you know this is the street version, not professional.but it will do.

Stop releasing harmful cfc's into the atmosphere and have your a/c serviced by a licensed technician. There is a leak in your system and your compressor will not run in the conditions you have described.

Have you checked the low side and high side pressures? The compressor might be bad. Does one line to the compressor get cold and the line coming out get hot?

I have a 96 chevy blazer with a 4.3 vortec rough

Do a compression test on all of your cylinders when it is cold. Backfiring is a sign of a worn valve seat allowing mixed fuel and air (lit by spark) to be forced back into the intake. You will probably see compression loss on one or more cylinders.

Also... there is a chance that the EGR valve is not totally seated when the engine is cold with just a small blow by. The EGR valve seats coke up over time with black gunk.

Why wont my 99 chevy blazer temperature warm up?

You may have vapour lock in your heater lines. Start engine, put heat lever on high, disconnect one of the lines on your heater core, the one on the flow out side, & see if you have any air coming out. Once antifreese comes out stick line back on & retighten clamp. Make sure your cooling system is topped off. Also your water pump may not be functionihg to it's maximum. Take rad cap off cold & view flow rate. If inadequate you may have to replace the water pump. Good luck!

96 Blazer A/C WILL NOT BLOW ANY AIR HOT OR COLD

BEFORE YOU DO ANY HARD WORK TURN ON YOUR A/C AND BLOWER AND TAP THE BACK OF THE BLOWER MOTOR WITH A SMALL HAMMER IN A COMPLETE CIRCLE. SOUNDS LIKE YOU JUST HAVE SOME STICKING BRUSHES IN THE BLOWER MOTOR.
