Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

2002 jetta tdi running lights stay on, cruise control doesnt work

My a/c clutch will not engage so i read in the manual to bypass the low pressure shut off to see if the pump will kick on, it said to bridge a couple slots in the plug from the shut off unit and i wasnt sure which ones to bridge so i did all the combinations possible of and there was only 3 wires in total. as i was doing that i noticed my head lights turn on and the e brake had been engaged. since then i have also noticed my cruise control wont turn on '' not even the light on the dash'' and my heated seats also dont heat. and i dont have any check engine lights and all fuses are fine.

Have a 1997 Plymouth Voyager 6Cyl. Had clockspring repaired at dealer. Cruise control light goes on in dashboard but no cruise?

cruise controls are operated by
brake switch
VSS auto or clutch pedal -manual
tacho
control switch,
ECM
cruise control will not engage if the engine rpms are too low , vehicle speed is to slow
VSS unit is faulty (wiring)
switch is not making full contact
any one dropping out will cancel the control engagement

Cruise control notworking on a 2002 F150

cruise controls are controlled by the following switches and sensors
1 the switch itself
2-- the clutch pedal sensor or the VSS in the auto transmission
3 the brake sensor ---4-- the gear change switch or selector
5-- the engine speed sensor ( tacho)
6-- the road speed (VSS )
if 1 or a combination is not working or is outside parameters , the cruise control will not switch on
the road speed in a manual is set at around 20 mph and any less will not engage cruise control(CC)
changing gears in a manual will disengage CC
touching the clutch pedal will not allow engagement or will disengage CC
for some sensors run the fault codes

run the fault codes first to check for ignition/plugs-leads -coils and fuel pressure /injector problems . If auo box check for faulty TCM and if manual clutch check for clutch engagement and hydraulic/ cable problems as the deceleration to allow the car to cat up to the rpms indicates a slipping clutch or if auto the bands and clutch packs are not operating correctly.

Airconditioner compressor (clutch) on 2001 chrysler neon 2.0 does not activate when turning on a/c. a) bypass of a/c relay in engine comparment control box causes clutch to engage b) fuse is not blown. c)...

Resolution:
The problem turned out to be a blown fuse labelled EBL Clutch, located in the instrument console (side panel in the dashboard next to steering wheel on a RHD model).

I downloaded the manuals of the Neon and it advised a sequence of checks to be done:
1. Test High Pressure switch located on compressor - check that the switch w/o/ cable gives a closed reading, then test with bypass in cable.
2. Test Low pressure switch located on accumulator, ( I could not find this switch). Bypass of this switch should engage the compressor clutch
3. I discovered the blown fuse when trying to activate the rear window heater and saw that the light on the switch did not activate - went looking for the fuse for this device and then found the EBL Clutch, really by accident. Shows you how confusing an abbreviated label on a fuse can be and that it does not always support the significance of it.

Other observations:
1. A/C compressor cannot run non-stop and must be controlled by the A/C controller. Hard wiring the clutch and running the engine for a few minutes led to the compressor shuddering and then discharging some gas through the saftefy valve. Normally this power supply would have been interrupted by the high pressure valve.
2. Release of coolant gas from the high pressure safety valve located on the compressor may indicate a faulty high pressure switch, but the primary or underlying reason may be due to a blocked Dryer in the A/C system.
3. The Daimler Mercedes Neon Agents, and an A/C company and an auto electrical company all attended unsuccessfully to this problem. No discredit meant in any way, it just shows that the incorrect label here makes solving such an ordinary problem very problematic. If any advice can be given to the Agents, read the manual.

you may have made your constant power hooked into the same wire they are on so you may need to run straight to the battery for constant power. if you've already done this then id make sure you didn't unplug anything.

NO POWER TO AC COMP

Fuse #5 is for your ac.

On the Hi/Low pressure switch conection Terminal 1 and 2 are for AC clutch bridge them briefly to see if clutch engage if so system is low on refrigerent.

If you get cold air its more then likely Hi/Low switch is bad.

Note engine must be running and ac fan in on position.

Good luck

AC clutch goes on and off

there is only one thing that causes this to happen and that is the system is low on refrigerant, you have a small leak.
