2000 VW Beetle: When accelerating or decelerating it pulls very hard to the left, while coasting, it seems to be fine and drives in a strait line. What could this be?

Verify tire pressures, and tires with the same amount of time on the ground. Rotate front to back, diagnostically. Also, a brake failing to release can cause a similar symptom.

I'm after a workshop manual for a 1975 Volkswagen L beetle Thanks

Check out BentleyPublishers.com. They print VW service manuals. You may also have some luck at faxonautoliterature.com. They deal in new and used factory service manuals for all makes. I've used both companies with excellent results. Hope this helps.
