First of all, check the fuse. If the fuse is good, then it is probablt rusty or dirty in there. You'll have to clean it with some sand paper or something. Take a test light and put it on the round thing at the very back in center of the socket to see if you have power. If you don't, it may be a wire has fallen off in behind, or a bad ground. Be careful not to touch the sides of the socket with your test light at the same time you are touching the center at the back. You'll blow the fuse.

Cig lighter fuse keeps blowing out

Research what else is on the circuit. In the old days when cars had more than one cigarret lighter I discovered that a penny fits in the socket perfectly and would cause a short.

Fuse card missing on lid of fuse box VW Beetle Turbo 2002 and need to know location of cigarette lighter to check if fuse is ok as chargers not working. Please help. Cheers

The fuse panel on 2002 VW Beetle Turbo is located behind a plastic cover on the driver's side end panel of the dashboard, door open. The fuse no.# 1 - 10A (red colour) is for cigarrete lighter. See pictures below:

Where is the fuse located to make my cigarette lighter work?

a cigarette lighter is rarely on its own fuse, test the plug with a cell phone charger or some other device that plugs into the lighterplug, if it works the cigarette plug is ok, and the actual lighter itself is bad, most auto stores sell replacements

What can i do to fix my cigerette lighter. i changed the fuses and it still doesn't work.

You can check if it's the lighter or the lighter terminal fairly easy, It's most likely you have a car cell charger or something similar that works by plugging it to the cigarrete lighter terminal, check if it works, if it does your lighter is bad, those are fairly cheap and you can buy one on a dealer store or a good auto parts store. Good luck

Is the cigarette lighter also the plug for cell phone charger?

The cigarette lighter plug should also work for the phone charger as long as the phone charger uses the cigarette lighter style plug(long with two metal contacts on the sides and a button contact on the tip). Most standard car chargers will fit both cigarette and auxillary style plugs.

91 Camry - Cigarette lighter plug active w/o key?

In my personal opinion, electrical current recharging, unattended for a long period of time, backflowing through a circuit not designed for it with the proper fuses and protection, is asking for trouble. Wouldnt it be better to disconnect the battery, and have it fully charged when you get back? The downside is that you will lose radio code and check engine history, but if the check engine light is not on, you havent lost much.

Cigarette lighter won't charge

IF YOU HAVE A TEST LIGHT, TEST center contact INSIDE THE LIGHTER OUTLET IF IT SHOWS POWER YOUR PROBLEM IS THE GROUND. And The Ground is INCORPERATED into A Bundle Located @ or around Electrical Center= Fuse / Relay BOX under hood. Sounds like a (BODY GROUND) Problem. Also Be Sure it is NOT a KEY ON Curciut. I Have a Carivan that the Cig. Lighters Work ONLY with KEY ON. Hope this is Of Help to you ! .
